Firm will study annexation

There are 6 comments on the The South Mississippi Sun Herald story from Dec 11, 2007, titled Firm will study annexation. In it, The South Mississippi Sun Herald reports that:

“We're going to do a study to see what would be beneficial for us to do”

Aldermen voted Tuesday to hire a firm to study annexation, and Mayor Billy Skellie said he favors expanding the border north of Interstate 10 to Landon Road.

The section of land Skellie favors annexing from Harrison County includes the proposed site for the new University of Southern Mississippi campus as well as the Long Beach Industrial Park.

After Tuesday's Board of Aldermen meeting, Skellie said the city should consider expanding northward along Espy Avenue, all the way north to Landon Road. Read more

Hopefully the Long Beach Govt will not screw this up like everything else that has taken place in LB, or lack of anything happening in LB. Between the crooked Alderman and Skellie "Mayor", these are the biggest group of idiots that the folks could have voted into office. The good ole boy network lives well in MS. Lets rebuild our town and lets do it NOW!!!!!

We chose to live outside Long Beach for a reason!!!! And yes I have lived in side long beach for many years. Long Beach is the worst run city in Mississippi!!!!! We want nothing more from that city. That is why we built our home here in the county. We are able to raise our children without the problems that are in Long Beach!!!@! If we wanted to live in the city limits we would. leave us out of your problems and solve your money problems without us.

What is the work that Long Beach is doing on 28thst? they said it was for drainge, but I have noticed it looks like water and sweage lins are being put in on the north side of the road, county side, what would this be for? and the fire hydants north on Beatline rd. Please don't tell me that Long Beach Is even thinking about trying to take over this area. They can't provide for the city limits as it is. So how could they justfie this. Don't they have to prove the can provide services for this area too? Not to mention nobody out here wants to live in the city limits of Long Beach. Do they think taking in more area would solve their problems.
no way
