Ladybird you say what is true and right. Let those who believe the House of Satan stand with him. I believe that God will be the ultimate judge what will be of Dexter. He is still breathing and thus has the opportunity to be born again. All have sinned and have come short of the glory of God. As much as we hate sin (murder is one of the worst sins), we must not hate the sinner. "The VILEST offender, who truly believes, one MOMENT from Jesus, a PARDON receives". If, and I say if, this man, filled with sin....if this sinner, should find peace and true peace, as he sits in the abyss of jail, on death row, in the emptiness that is left of his life, if he should find peace in Jesus, I believe he will sit in the kingdom of heaven in the GREAT hereafter, next to all those who have also found peace. Probation is still open because he is still alive. As for the two victims, the poor woman and young man, who came to an unfortunate end, it is my hope that they were believers before they died because probation closed for them at their death. May God have mercy on them, for there is no more opportunity for reconciliation. Now, for all of us here, what we should do, instead of pointing fingers and condemning this man, we should look into our own lives to see where we can make a change. Are we any better than this killer, when we quarrel with a worker, our brother, our sister, our friends at home, at school, at work, or at play? If we have anger in our hearts for our brethren, we are just as guilty of murder, just as this man (Dexter) was. So, whatever, a man (or woman) thinks in his (or her) heart, so he (or she) does. What we think in our heart, is what we have already done. Remember, before Christ was crucified, as he lay on that old rugged cross, to bear the burden for all the sins of humanity, in his agony, he was able to forgive. Yes, a person, who may never have received the love and forgiveness of any person, received it from the GREATEST REDEEMER that ever lived. That person was the "THIEF ON THE CROSS." I always remember that story, because it shows that Christ is ever compassionate. If only we could be like HIM, what glories await us. My friends think on these things. Remember the two victims, and pray for their family as they continue to deal with this difficult tragedy. But moreover, pray for Dexter also, a man filled with sin. Pray that he may come to the THRONE OF GRACE. Though his sins be as scarlett, God shall make them white as snow. And also, my dear friends, pray for yourselves, that you can learn the POWER OF FORGIVENESs, that only the Holy Spirit can teach you. As Christ laid on that cross, long ago, hung before the worst murderers in the history of the world, as these killers spat at Christ and placed a crown of thorns on His head, He said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." That should be our prayer. And it goes on to say, that some of those were the same ones who gave their life to Christ after his RESURRECTION, after Pentecost. My friends, think on these things. LEARN TO FORGIVE, and it is not an easy thing.

This is a very sad case. Death is wrong no matter who committs it. The justice system is messed up. Everyone who committs a crime deserves punishment for it, but the death penality is a cycle of killing. The criminal kills, then the system kills them. What kind of sense does this make? Is this how GOD wants this to be handled? What do you think God wants the punishment to be. The last time I checked I don't think God was working in the justice system, I think he is in heaven. This is about the worst crime I have ever read about. I cried so hard when I read this. May God bless you all. I cried for the victim's families. But I also cried for the family of the accussed too. This is not good for nobody to go through. When someone in your family dies, no matter how they die, it is a very bad experience. I know I've been there. For the person that committed the crime, can I watch that person die? No I can't. It wouldn't bring me justice and it wouldn't heal my pain. And it surely wouldn't bring back my family member. To ALL of you, may God have mercy on you soul.
I always love posts such at this one, LB has not had any one she knows or a family member die at the hands of another. If she did, his comment would be of a different nature. Go back to bed LB and sleep it off.....

According to Lolo, being angry at a guy who murdered four innocent people is exactly the same as murdering them yourself. TAKE YOUR MEDS, LOLO!

While I may disagree with her sentiments (See my previous post), any one of you that condemns ladybird for either her opinion or her beliefs should be ashamed.
Freedom of religion is the first freedom guarenteed to us as Americans. These Ad Hominum attacks are exactly what is wong with policitac discourse in the United States today, regardless of policital pursasion. As a Taoist conservative registered Republican I rarely run across any who would begrudge me my beliefs within my own party, and I spend a lot of time confronting those who continually attack Christianity.
It is no longer acceptable to discriminate based on race, religeon, creed, and a number of other factors. Unless that person happens to be a Christian. Then it always seems to be open season.

Shame on all of you.

So, objecting to someone else's religious base view of the death penalty as opposed to the law, is discrimination? Get real!

I truley apologize for even writing what I wrote. I didn't know I'd get sent to HELL for it. I was only stating my opinion. I have lost some one very close to me to a violent act. I know how these people feel. But there is a higher power than ours. God will have the last say. I don't agree with rapist, nor killers. I believe they diserve punishment. You people act like I want him to walk free. I never said that. But I don't agree with capital punishment. That is my right as an american. And as far as rape goes, I was raised in a family of all men. I knew what rape and molestation felt like when I was an 8 year old child. So I have no sympthy for that. I know I wasn't killed but my innocence was taken away from me against my will. And I'm NOT saying that compares to what these poor vistims got. I was only responding to the rape part. Dexter is wrong for what he did. But my opinion wont change about capital punishment. That's why we have the democratic and republican party. That's america. Whatever he gets he gets. But I still feel the same way. Just because I DON'T have it in MY heart to kill doesn't mean that I should be punished for it. If that's how I feel then that's how I feel. These comments shouldn't be to verably attack people for how they feel. I have a right to my opinion just like you do. And nothing that I have read in this passag will change my mind nor make me feel any different. Im not going to say to u what u have said to me, I'm better than that. I was only voicing my opinion and it wont change. The streets are full of stupid criminals they can't kill them all. Killing one is not going to change the world. There are still going to be bad people. God help us. It's the world we live in. But I said it once and I will say it again. I don't agree with killing. It's wrong. And I will not be writing anything else because I can see I'm not as FREE as I thought I was.
Lady Bird you are not alone in you,r thinking. I know what you mean and I also know what some of the others mean also. I am willing to bet that God will reward you for the beliefs that you have, please don,t stop writing you,r feelings on matters that pertain to all of us as a society. God bless you.

Ladybird and her ilk are free to post that they oppose the death penalty based on their religion. But when they say because God said this and God said that we mustn't use the death penalty, then they are full of shit and people have every right to criticize them.

I don't believe "climb back in your botle and take your meth" qualifies as legitimate critisizm, Max. That is a simpleminded ad hominum attack and does nothing to advance the debate.
When you disagree with someone, telling them to "shut up" isn't the answer. If you actually want to discuss the matter intelligently rather than exchange flames you identify the point of disagreement and exchange views.

And repeatedly saying because “God sez so” doesn’t qualify as legitimate or intelligent debate. Trying to force your religious beliefs onto other is damn right insulting. We are a nation of laws. If someone wants a country run by a particular religion, go move to one.

These holier than thou bible thumpers still haven't brought forth a logical argument yet and still refuse to answer any of my questions. If you question their views, they accuse you of attacking them and that they have somehow been denied their constitutional rights. Anyone who brings god into this belongs in the same house of satan as dexter boy. Then you have the typical race pimps saying that he was unfairly accused because he is black - even though he admitted to the murders.

I still think we should place monsters like Dexter Johnson and Charles Manson into homes of people like Ladybird since she is so forgiving.

Paul wrote:
We as a society refuse to care about anyone but ourself.
That is a plain lie.
Paul wrote:
We need to rethink our traditions and admit it's not working.
That is especially true of the traditon of allowing 98% of murderers to escape execution. Even the execution of only a few murderers wors to prevent additional murders. That demonstrates that we need to expand the practice.
Paul wrote:
Those who justify capital punishment with the "eye for eye" verse need to really read the verses about love and forgiveness.
Why? Reading allof those verses will never show that a murderer should not be executed. Even Jesus spoke in favor of the execution of murderers and never did He or any of his followers assert that a murderer should not be executed.

I rarely get involved in this kind of debate, and we are WAY off-topic, but I submit to you the following:

1. She never once condemned any individual here for their statements differing with her, she merely was stating hers.

2. She was not "pushing" her religion on anyone, merely stating an opinion she held based on her religious beliefs.

3. The First Amendment guarentees freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. I disagree with her opinion on Dexter Johnson, and as a Taoist I don't share her Christian beliefs, but I don't have the right to silence her on either count. Neither do you.

4. We are a nation of laws. The law states clearly that this woman has the right to believe in any reliegion and more importantly the right to express that religion in any format. If someone has a problem with that (as they do in the Middle East, or China, where many Western religeons are hevily controlled by the State or even outright forbidden, then by your own arguement they should move to one.

"It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and be confirmed as one."

End of Discussion.

No, she was pushing her religion as an argument and you and others are now trying to argue that her argument is above criticism because it is religious based -- WRONG!
And actually read and understand the Constituion before citing it as authority:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
Did Congress enact a law preventing ladybird from establishing or practicing her religion? I must have missed it. Does the First Amendment prevent others from criticizing ladybird's lame opinions? Must have missed that one, too.
"It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and be confirmed as one."
Practice what you preach, pal.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Leo

This is a great day for fixing things that have gone wrong. If there have been ructions in your relationship with a certain person this is when you can sort things out and get them back on track. If an appliance or gadget is going on the blink, this is your cue to either get it mended or chuck it out and replace it. You may also find time to tidy up your immediate surroundings or take all those bottles and papers to your nearest recycling center. How virtuous you'll feel when it's all done!
