How are things at the newspaper? After graduating from West Georgia College in 1985, I worked briefly in Bremen, hometown of then-speaker of the House Tom Murphy. via Daily Citizen

Mr. Murphy is Bremen, and he supported our school during the hard times and the good times. His influence will forever be remembered everyday when students walk through the halls of Bremen High School. Mr. Murphy touched the lives of just about everyone in Haralson County and especially the residence of Bremen Georgia.
I can remember many times Mr. Murphy donated his time and money to support programs and students at BHS. Everytime a group excelled in sports, education or other activities which shined a light on BHS or its students, Mr Murphy would have them go to the capital to be honored.
Mr. Murphy will be missed, and our prayers will always be with all of his family. His dedication and hard work has made a very positive impression in my life. I hope and pray for the men who represent our community, and I hope that they will be dedicated to support Bremen and Haralson County like Mr. Murphy.

Murphy held back Haralson County's development so that he could maintain his chokehold on power. Everything from the reservoir to his darling Bremen industrial sector have had his meddling fingers in it. The dynasty is gone. There was a collective sigh of relief across the rest of the county when we found out he had passed. It is sad to say that, but it is the truth. Wicked men cannot hurt you from the grave.
