Of course it is sad that a family has lost it's father and husband with Mr. Porters passing. But is it truly necessary to report it by bringing up that particular case? I didn't realize that Channel 6 had become the E! network or more appropriately, National Enquirer.

When Kirby was running for Commonwealth's Attorney, it was a rare occurrence that I stated my views about his running for office. In my heart of hearts, I know Kirby was a good man. He served the Commonwealth well. I will miss seeing him at the Henrico Courthouse.

I never said he was a good man. My comment had to do with the way Channel 6 ran the story.

Your personal feelings towards Mr. Porter are not necessary, and obviously unfounded since he has not held that office since 2008 and things have not improved in Hanover. One man does not control the entire justice system for that jurisdiction. Nevertheless, he was a good man and worked hard during his years as Commonwealth Attorney and in his own practice. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and to his extended family of law enforcement.

It was my distinct pleasure to work with Kirby Porter in the court system for a number of years. I knew Kirby to be a tough competitor in the courtroom and to vigorouslsy prosecute his cases. He was an ethical and fair man and the judicial system has lost one of its greatest assets. May God be with his wife and precious children.

I've lived in Hanover for almost 20 years. I've had the pleasure of knowing Mr. & Mrs. Porter and their four precious children. Before you post IGNORANT crap in response to the news of the death of someone you've NEVER known...think about the impact your incidiary words will have on the innocent children!!! Your stupidity is now etched permanently on the internet...Likewise, who among us has a need to know the personal details of ANY private citizen when it has no impact on us...especially at a time like this? Why do news reports need to mention cases Mr. Kirby diligently litigated without a favorable outcome when repoting his passing? Further, how is it those who worked with him all state Mr. Porter had one of the highest conviction ratios in the state...yet Monday-morning-legal expert-wannabe's feel compelled to spout garbage the facts fail to support? Whether you agreed with Mr. Porter's work or not...the time to cast stones was during his tenure...not in response to his death. Where is your humane concern for the children who are numb and stunned by this unexpected loss? Folks...now is the time to offer prayers and meals for this family!

I had the pleasure of working for Kirby when he was in the private sector and when he was in the public sector. He was a man of great character, passion and integrity. He fought for the abused!! I will truly miss him as a friend and mentor.
