I have parents down there and I am trying to get them to come this way before the hurricane hits. It worries me now that it is a catagory 4. I hope everyone gets out of there. I will keep everyone in my prayers. Katrina is back again.

My daughter and son in law live there too but they are heading here first thing in the morning. I hope your parents decide to get out of there and go to safety. My prayers will be with your family at this time

I think that everyone is overreacting. I will not deny that it will be bad but, some people are going to far. I have a history with meteorology and this is not going to be another Katrina. There is nothing wrong with being safe but don't endanger other lives running out of town driving unsafely and following to closely. That would be horrible to have a fatality due to unsafe driving while fleeing the event.

I live down there and I will be leaving North MS in order to return to my house. I didn't get any flooding in Katrina and this storm is nowhere near the storm Katrina was.

i agree. this location did not flood in Katrina, and this storm is much farther to the west than Katrina did. i am monitoring this storm very closely, and also have some history as a tornado weather chaser/spotter from Indiana. people are simply gunshy, rightfully so, from katrina

My son is in the Military and has just gone to Biloxi for Tech school. He just called me from the hurricane shelter. He said they are going to just wait it out.
I pray the military is doing the right thing
