Former Hamilton Heights football coach Steve Stirn did not appear in court Wednesday and waived his right to an initial hearing on charges that he provided alcohol to a minor. Full Story

Was she charged with minor possession/consumption? Do they think they are exempt from the law? Just because it's accepted by their parents in this area for their kids to drink and party, they are not above the law. Money talks, huh?

I don't think she has been charged...but she should. Seems to me that if the have enough proof to charge him, then that same proof should be used to charge her too.
money does talk though, it seems! The girl is just like her dad...drinks like a fish.

There are witnesses that saw him buy her several beers. They obviously saw him hand them to her. I would guess she drank them, since he continued to buy them for her. Underage drinking? Hello...? Why does my kid get a minor possession for just holding a beer, and she doesn't for guzzling a half a dozen beers???

Thats exactly why our state consitution requires the county prosecuter to be elected!
Now it is easy to understand the call for fairness and justice and ask why not the girl. But in all fairness this began, as Sheriff Carter eluded to, as an investigation into inappropriate relations and ended with some 300 man hours into an alcohol to a minor charge. The coach quit and ran away and the sheriff and prosecuter elected to remain quiet. Could it be that all this effort has lead our elected officials to believe that not charging her is best, or in other words they know what they are doing. Now I ask "And if it was your 18 year old daughter?"
He was a teacher, coach and married.
Seems to me the vultures can fly away, no road kill here!

What does how much her father drinks has to do with it. Who is this girl? No one ever calls her by name & what does money have to do with it. Are you jealious?

You talk about her father what about her mother? Her mother should have wondered about the coach even being with her daughter at the concert. The mother must be too busy with her own life. Give me a break.

I really can't believe someone would put the young girls name out there like that!!!!! The media is not even allowed to print her name. As far as I am concerned...it does not matter who the young girl was. Coach Stirn was in a position of TRUST!!! Why do none of you get that. When this young girl met Stirn...she was a minor. Because she happened to have turned 18 during the course of the relationship does not mean she should be punished. Let's be real about who the ADULT is in this equation! A newly turned 18 year old or a man with a wife, family, career, mortage, etc.?????

"Coach Stirn was in a position of TRUST!!! Why do none of you get that..."

I get it HH Grad, and I am in 100% agreement with you. He should have known better, I don't care what she did, how she dressed, etc.. He was an adult (too bad he was acting like a 16 year old.)

This guy was obviously a talented coach and a very charasmatic figure in Arcadia. He used his charm to take advantage of this girl and possibly others. He had no pure intentions with her. The relationship was an ego stroke for a 40 year old who had everything going for him: loving wife and kids, successful career, respect of (some of) his peers, and he threw that all away to have an "inappropriate relationship" with this girl. He should be ashamed and should never be allowed around young people again.

As a testament to his charisma, he still has a lot of supporters who are willing to turn a blind eye at his misdeeds because he was a successful coach and a friend to many. Others saw him for his true self and knew there was a problem.

People need to wake up. He used his position and charisma for bad intentions. He is sick and deserves to be in jail.

I sure am glad my daughter will not be exposed to this jerk. I fear, however, that he will just move on down the road because of his talent as a football coach and victimize other young girls at his next stop.

That would be a true shame.

I was a member of the football team and graduate of H.H.H.S. in 2001. I will tell you coach stern's most popular quote. "There is no gray area. There is only right and wrong. Black and white." I want to ask him if he thinks that was in the gray area.
