Special session could address spending, taxes

There are 9 comments on the The Indianapolis Star story from Dec 4, 2007, titled Special session could address spending, taxes. In it, The Indianapolis Star reports that:

Thomas Jefferson once stated, "That government which governs best governs least." From Hamilton County through the rest of the state, government buildings are adorned with this aphorism even as government ...

Control spending at all levels of government, you want everyone to control spending but you. You're a bunch of morons in the state house and senate.

If a person were to read the "Star" over the past few years, he/she would read of many many tax increases. The thing about taxes are that they never go away and are seldom for the benefit of the taxed.

I just hope these legislators realize this is NOT the State of Hamilton or Marion County. If it doesn't affect the entire state DON'T deal with it at the state level.

Thanks, Senator Delph, for putting the focus where it should be...on government spending. I hope more senators join you.

As I have said before, the best place to start reducing unnecessary government spending is by enforcing immigration laws so illegal aliens will leave. Public education is funded by property taxes & education is the biggest budget item. According to the IN Dept. of Education website, the per pupil expenditure is now over $9,500 per year. That means it costs nearlly a million dollars per year to educate just over 100 children of illegal aliens who should not be here in the first place. Multiply that by how many? Who knows. With a drop out rate near 50% for AMERICAN Blacks and Latinos, it is only fair and fitting that we help them first.

Jefferson must have known about this:

A major research institution in Indiana has recently announced the discovery of the heaviest element known to science. Its existence was proved during the Property Tax Debacle.
The new element has been named *Governmentium*.
Governmentium (Gv) Has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
These 312 particles are held together by forces called mo-rons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called pe-ons.
Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A minute amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second to take over four days to complete.
Governmentium has a normal half-life of 4 years. It does not decay, however, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more mo-rons to become neutrons, forming iso dopes.
This characteristic of mo-ron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever mo-rons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.
When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium -- an element which radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since though it has only half as many peons it has twice as many mo-rons.

NPT, your comments were quite on the mark. People who opt for a career at the public trough, are only concerned with self-enhancement in power and money. They are extremely narcistic. These parasites prey upon the taxpayer's ignorances. They give them a pro sports team and a multi-million complex, compliments of the taxpayer, and the ignorant flock to the events. The parasite has a luxury box while the dupes swill $4 beers, put $4 hotdogs down their necks, burp & puke, while being surrounded by many more of their ilk.

Mr. Delph, appears to be one of few. He seems interested in the health & wealth of his state & country rather than himself. Wish there were more like him. Wish there were fewer dupes.

Three aspects of good government the people should know:
1. Control spending and accountability
2. Learn the taxation schemes and apply them properly
3. No taxation on people or their property.

Taxation and spending authority should be strictly limited to one political body instead of many for accountability.

Also people should educate themselves to the taxation schemes. First of all don't tax people or their property. Instead tax businesses, events, or things. This way the tax burden falls where it should on those who profit off the backs and minds of the people. If we want the government off our backs we have to learn how and who to tax.

An example would be the sales tax. A sales tax is an excise tax. Excises applies to corporations, not people. Therefore the business should not be allowed to pass that tax on to the consumer at the point of sale. Instead they should be required to pay at intervals a sales tax on pre determined items. They then could decide wether to pass the tax on to the consumer through higher prices or suffer the tax for the competetive advantage. This way tax falls upon who it was intended instead of you. There is no reason why people should suffer the burden of taxation except by their ignorance of the taxing schemes.
