Open Search Question

What are your thoughts about the open records act? I am curious in knowing what open records are all about. I have always heard often times that open records only contain what the individuals releasing the open record want you to know? What is your opinion should an educational system and or goverment employees release everything in an open records situation since we taxpayers pay their salary, or should they only report what they want you to know? I am new to all of this open record stuff, and I am curious of why we have open records. Thanks!
