I don't agree w/ laws that tell you what you can ingest on your own property. I do agree w/ public smoking laws, it's a known health hazard. I would be in agreement if they banned smoking of cannabis in public as well. What I don't agree with is arresting people for possession of a plant, any plant.
So smoking marijuana would only be allowed inside a private residence - not in any outdoor or public area? Tobacco health hazards are (in my opinion) greatly exaggerated.

I don't believe that health hazards are greatly exaggerated. 400,000 deaths per year is a staggering number.

I'd be ok w/ laws mimicking alcohol where it is decided by each individual city how it is publicly handled. When it comes down to it all I really want is people not to be jailed for simple possession, which attributes to 80% of all arrests. If that means no public use, then I'm ok w/ that.

I don't know where the 400m number came from, but OK.
However, with this being a smoke issue (where people other than the user are exposed to it) are you saying that you'd be OK with it being banned and legislated in the same manner as cigarettes? The alcohol comparison doesn't work since people don't blow drinks into the air as part of the use and patrons aren't exposed to "second-hand drinks".

Actually no. I would want the legal age to be 21, not 18. As far as 'where' you can smoke... I don't have a problem w/ it. I would hope there would be circumstances when it was socially acceptable like drinking, but if not, I don't care as long as people aren't being arrested from it.

Pot head...Haha. These are sick people in need of medication. One day when you are dieing of cancer, wasting away from chemo you will be happy us "pot heads" pushed for this bill. Wasting sydrome is a horrible thing that came be helped with this wonderful medication. Open your mind a little. Cannibus does not cause cancer or kill brain cells. These are lies put out by drug free America to keep our private prison systems full. Do some research before you post lies. AMA has called for more research this year. Would they do that if they didn't thing it was a benifit to sick people...

I am writing you due to the recent arrest of Harold Watts for Medical Marijuana. He is the head of the NCMMC, an affiliated organization with the NCCPN and we are actively lobbying HB1380 for Representative Earl Jones of Greensboro. I have personal knowledge that Mr. Watts is a medical patient, and that he will take this to the highest court he can to prove his medical necessity. There is a medical defense in this state that those of us who actively promote the medical use of cannabis are aware of. Jean Marlowe has established this defense and currently sued Wilson County for violations of her civil rights. Harold Watts has actively worked for the NCCPN, licensed in the state to advocate this bill, and recently branched out to start an ASA( Americans for Safe Access) chapter called NCMMC, the North Carolina Medical Marijuana Coalition. He is very public, website, members, and the leader of his org. in the mid state region. Harold Watts worked in Wilson County with Jean Marlowe last year when she was raided. He was present with her filming patients when law enforcement unlawfully forced their way into the hotel room and Wilson has been served with a 1.25 million dollar lawsuit for the incident. Wilson County was directly involved in Harold Watts being targeted and arrested at his home recently, and there are many people who will be actively protesting his arrest. He has called the Sherriffs Dept. for the last 30 days willing to turn himself in after being raided over a month ago, and they just now decided to charge him.He will be turning himself in at 4:00PM tommorow. As public and vocal advocates for HB1380, we become the targets of law enforcement and others who would rather keep the black market drug trade alive. It should send legislators a clear message when illegal drug dealers and law enforcement do not want this bill passed. Harold is a key component due to his political knowledge and ability to pull together rally’s and protests in support of changed legislation. We do not need him in jail. Guilford County is telling him he will have no bond. We will protest this and know that Harold Watts is no flight risk, he is passionate about the current bill, HB1380, and will fight this issue. We would appreciate you contacting Guilford County and letting them know, if they do not treat him fairly, we will rally hundreds of legislation supporters in front of their jail, and end the media blackout we are experiencing in regards to this bill. Harold Watts was targeted, and we do not like it.

I have a injury to my spine in 1984 and have had many surgical procedures to take away pain. Nothing has worked including the 100 different pain meds I have taken over the years. A few years ago I tried marijuana and guess what.....I way able to actually function and do things I would have never been able to do with the meds that do nothing but make me tired and sick at times . Don't tell me this is a waste of time because I am proof this works much better than the meds that have "no effect" . I am a responsible adult with grown children and do not "run around high on pot" I do it in the privacy of my own home. What I do not like doing is taking legal meds that do impair my ability to operate machinery and go and put someones life in danger on the road ! I have found somthing that works " FOR ME" people who are against it need to educate themselves more on it and get the true facts like I have in the last few years. It has never ...ever been connected to killing someone" OR proven to make people go onto hard drugs...this is nonsense ! I should be treated like any other legal drug and given to those who need it !
