The dog park as it stands was designed to minimize problems for the dogs, read Fleas and Ticks. Trees breed fleas and bushes provide a shelter for ticks. The area for the new dog park is full of trees and bushes and will create problems for dog owners. We have ask the county to build a shelter in the present park to help make it more user friendly particularly in cold weather. It is bitterly cold out there because there is no wind breaks but that could be changed with the addition of a well designed shelter in the park. It is much easier to police the present park because of its open design. It is also easier to maintain and mow than the purposed new park. I think Ms. Bednar reference to the "penitentiary-like setting" is an insult to all of us who volunteer and work hard at the dog events. We have all helped to make the park better.
