Simple the Bible says not to be a partaker of strong drink, nor to hang around them that do, i think if a business has to have a no smoking law that they should have a no drinking law, drinking offends me , just as smoking does some poeple, if you have a restruant seperate the drinkers in a seperate room, just like smokers, i do not want to sit beside some loud mouth drinking and telling about what all he or she can do. if you want to drink go to a wet county get drunk , go to jail pay your fine get out come home.

Okay, let me be clear. I don't want to take anyone's "rights" away. But let me tell you something, One distric of Green county narrowly escaped by-the-drink alochol this week. Say what you want about the "statistics", but I don't want a place serving alcohol within 1/2 a mile of my home. 1/2 a mile from where my 18 month old little boy plays in our yard. There is enough danger for him and the rest of my family in this world. We don't need someone who JUST had a COUPLE of beers with dinner behind the wheel of a car in our neighborhood.

And as for the religous side of this issue, consider this. Alcohol in Biblical times was watered down considerably. The Alcohol consumed in that day was used as a purifier the water of the time. Even today you can't drink the water in a lot of countries. Here are a couple of links if you are more interested...

Then lock your boy up now because there are more dunks on the road now just driving around drinking with no place to go. Or I guess you could buy an Island.

Bottom line---who would argue that we the people have a RIGHT to decide? The argument about whether we ought to be wet or dry can be settled simply and fairly and constitutionally. PUT IT ON THE BALLOT.
Let's put this up before We the People and let us decide. Isn't everybody sick and tire of other people telling us what we will and will not do?
Used to be people were threatened with having the petition printed showing all those who signed. Well, good. Print it. All that shows is that those who sign (even those who don't personally drink) do believe that the citizens of this county should have the right to vote and decide.
Having the right to put it up to the vote is not a religious issue. If you have religious issues against drinking then don't do it. Most religious people i know feel strongly about the constitution and the right to vote. So let all sign the petition for simply the right for our people to choose. Enough said.
Very nice!

I live in Taylor County. I did'nt get to vote if the town that is our county seat goes moist. It did'nt pass before and would not again if voted
on county wide. Alcohol is a drug that can make you dependent.
It's a shame that these towns can only think of something like this to make them grow. This is the only thing that will do it. Thats sad. Using groweth as a tool is petty to those that have seen
the awful effects of alcohol and those drawn into it's hold of misery and destruction.
Please, Adair find a good and positive way to make your county grow.
As for those that talk about the people that go to church and want to look at them. Why don't you look at a real child of God and follow them.
There are a lot of them in Adair county. If you want some names email me and I'll give you some. But, please follow them !!!
Personally I would rather live in a town that has some morals. Ours in Campbellsville just took one step backwards. Thank you God Bless

I like how the Bible is being used as an argument against this, even though Jesus turned water into wine and that wine was the most common drink for them in that time period.
All studies have shown that the number of DUI's drops sharply if people don't have to go out of town. I mean, really, how many patient people do you know?
And if drinking offends you, don't drink. And if other people drinking offends you, then grow up and realize it's not about you and it's selfish to think it should be.
Alcohol is a drug that causes suffering to many. DUI related accidents, child abuse, physical assaults, murders, rapes, suicides and neglect are the resulting consequences of a society that glamorizes drinking. It affects everyone and it is selfish to look the other way and pretend that it does not. What recourse does a five year old child have when his drunk mother or father is physically beating him? He cannot reason with this person. He can only tremble in fear and cry with physical and mental pain. Once again, tell me who is selfish?

The way you make it sound alcohol is the most evil thing in the world. It's not the reason for everything. How can you write such things? There are some around here that do not drink and do everything you mentioned, so what is their excuse. AND NO ONE is going to get drunk on a couple of drinks with their meal.
Maybe everyone should raise their children better. I have seen from personal experience, when you keep telling children that alcohol is bad and you can't drink. I saw my Uncle tell my cousin the same thing and my cousin would sneak into the house late at night when he was drunk. They start drinking behind your back, those are the ones that turn into alcoholics.
