Can anyone explain how our city councel can spend over a million dollers for land and another 1-2 million to build a ball park ( to replace the ones we HAVE) and the topper to name it after a boy ( who was killed in a car accident and didnt play his senior year or do any volunteer work at the parks.) instead of 1/2 a dozen people who have devoted a good part of there life to this? How about Emma Sapp or Larry Allen who have coached or worked the feilds for years ??
4 BIG points here
1 BIG $$$ money to replace what we have?
2 who is this child to be so special?
3 why not use a name of someone who we know and desearve it?(if this really is to be done)
4 If we had this kind of money what happened to the health plex(indoor pool) why didnt the city use that money there?( i guess we need another ball field?

I would really like other opinions on this.

Well, I'll tell you why.

It's because his mother is a very headstrong, passionate individual mourning the loss of her son. Who also wants to commemorate the life that her son lived and make an everlasting memory.

I certainly don't see anything wrong with it.

My advice to you is to get behind something you believe in with 110% and I'm sure you'll have great reward as well.

Well said, well.

I don't like this site, but since the NG's commenting system is broke, I'll post my cents worth here.

Leitchfield needs to stop all this stupid spending. We didn't need that new courthouse! We don't need all the road work they are doing! And we especially don't need a ballpark. Deuce isn't the only teen who has died in a car crash in GC, so why does he get something built after him at the taxpayers' expense? His mom may work for the NG, but she fails at her job and her work has more typos than a child's essay. It may be heartwarming, but most sane moms remember their son without spending millions of dollars.

If the council has any brains at all, they should politely refuse this proposition and instead work on finding jobs for recent grads like me and many others who need work.

And of course, most of GC looks at this story and says, 'Awww, how sweet,' and when someone tells the truth, they attack them as if we are making fun of the grief.

Do you eat crap for breakfast? Wake up! The city is not spending anything on this ballpark. If the funds are not raised it will not go. Simple as that! Read the whole story.

It is a shame that the city didnt feel the need to help with the Heathplex, However I really doubt any money from those funds will go to this. And it is a shame this poor mother will spend all this time and effort for a project that will never happen. I have no doubt that there will be some interest and a good part of the money raised but come on 2 million dollers when most people cant affort the second slice of cheeze on a double cheeze burger at McDonalds? I hope this can be channeled toward some good thing that will happen.

I love how everyone yells about how the city doesn't provide enough activities for the cities' youth one minute, and then when they are planning on building a new ballpark, we consider it wasteful spending. I'm not saying that a baseball park was the best idea, but at least the city council is trying to improve the community.
As for the name of the complex, I don't really mind it. Naming a baseball complex after someone who did play baseball and has died is to be expected. If you have a better name for the complex, why not ask to get the name changed?

Adam did Deuce somehow offend you when he was alive. You attack every article his mother writes and anything that mentions his name. Was he a bully? or did you have something personal against him?
Why is it the cities job to find you a job? Go to college and get an education like the rest of the world.
The city council has committed no funds to this project yet. Just the land and agreed to open a bank account.
But the whole idea of providing a single complex for families to enjoy the sport of little league baseball/softball/t-ball on one field in an up to date complex is an excellent one. It is just a shame a mother had to loose a son before someone broke though all the negative people and comments to move the project along this far.
You say the the roads do not need repaired and no new court house needed to be built. What does the city need? Tell us your solution to the problems... GO to the city council meeting and offer a suggestion to make this county better. You are a graduate as you said. do something beside complain and criticize Deuce.

Well tell me who do you think the baseball park should be named after? there are memorials and wings are named after people all the time. If this mother does all this work on her own to get this complex built maybe she should name it after herself? Or better yet lets see who gives the mot money that would be a good person to name it after. You are taking this way to personal WHY?

i dont think that it is right for the person who made this blog to think that its all for the boy who was killed in an accident which yeah its named after him and i loved him dearly but the point is we have crappy fields, and his name deserves to be known. So get a life.

When the city councilmen make a personal donation to this project, let me know and I will be glad to make one too. I'm betting my money will remain in my pocket.

Who is the world are you writing to or about? If it is me, I wasn't critical of this project, Deuce or his mother. I was just making the point the the city council is unfortunately going to only give lip service to this project. You need to chill a little bit.
