I dont care if you are military, veteran or civilian - this shows that getting pissed about the good old boys of the area screwing people can actually solve the problem. Regardless of if you are a member or the Legion or have always been a civilian with no military service - stick together as a group and make sure things like Ben Ward ripping people off stops. This goes for auto service, computer service, appliance service, handyman services, electricians, plumbers, etc. Now at the same time remember most are private businesses and have expenses such as insurance, utilities, licenses, tools, materials, etc. Instead of thinking what you make an hour is reasonable at your W2 job, shop around half a dozen (if you can and have the time) of the people in the field to get an idea of the local rates - even call into the surrounding counties but make sure you deduct the travel for locals. Be reasonable and hopefully the service will also be reasonable with you. Also this is a one party knowledge state for recording phone calls. If you want to protect yourself record the calls - you are the one party of the two that has knowledge of the recording being done, and you do not have to let the other party know it's being recorded. Get a phone quote of $55 an hour minimum first hour and quarter hour increments after then you get the bill for 90 mins and it shows 2 hours at $75 an hour - you have the tape to confront them with, or to use in small claims court.

Be a smart consumer, and stick together. The days of not getting involved are history and were a stupid waste of time anyway.
