Since when do the police decide what to charge a person as? As far as I know it is soley up to the prosecutor whether a minor is charged as an adult or as a juvenile.

This is horrible... I mean you never know what the kid and his step father was going through... But it seems like the only way to solve a problem these days is to shoot someone.. isnt that like the new fad being gay and killing people? Its just sad that this boy will spend the rest of his life in some kind of jail... He wont ever have a wife or kids...

Only a liberal....Sad for the kid??? how 'bout the stepfather that is no longer with us?? The kid should be, at the very least, locked up for life. Old enough to to the crime...old enough to do the time.

In Georgia, it's a Christmas tradition to eliminate one family member a year.

Hes mom and Dad have tried so hard to help him. Richie took alot of time up with Brandon. He loved him very much!! But with Brandons back ground they will charge him as an adult!! My heart goes out to hes mom she not only lost a husband but a son!! My heart goes out to Jerry Brandons dad!! So please keep them in your prayers!!

i was half listening to the news earlier and i think they said he was on house arrest..or had been at one time...at this age? hes too far gone..something is just not wired right in this kids head and the best thing for society is to remove him from it for the duration of his life.

Okay folks check this out! My ex-wife has been married more times than I can keep track of. I know she's on her 4th of 5th husband.

Both my ex-wife and that current husband of hers are guilty of grand theft. The husband served time. I have a huge issue with this. My ex-wife stood behind her mother and wrote down the PIN number and then the debit card was stolen. Furthermore my ex-wife and ALL of her loser husbands abused my son and I never knew about it. They gave him drugs!

My son told me he was beaten, kicked to the floor and was bleeding! My ex-wife did nothing about it. Her story was "there's nothing I can do about it." That is such a load of BS. She should have told me about it and I would have taken care of it.

If this stepfather treated the 14 year-old as my son was treated I can understand. I do not condone the shooting at all.

If the minor is to be charged as an adult all I can say is he deserves it. The BOY should not have had access to a gun or any other lethal weapon. That's just plain stupid. Now he's going to pay the price.

Now this is going to haunt him for the rest of his life. He could be sentenced to death by lethal injection. I only wish I could say I'm sorry, but I am not.

There are too many deaths caused by guns in the hands of irresponsible people.

House arrest, probation and rehabilitation probably won't help this BOY. As stated, he's "too far gone."

Divorce is hard on kids - we all know that. My son was no exception. Actually my son wanted me to get back with my ex-wife, but I have no use for a druggie, liar and thief. No doubt she will rot in hell.

Guess that's enough said!

I am not surprised that this happened. I do not know the whole story, but all to often these children are treated like dirt by these men who view them as "THEIR WIFES KID". Every person has a breaking point and the "CHILD" obviously hit his. He stood up for himself when probably no one else would. Unfortunatly he will be a victim twice now. Again I do not know the whole story, but my heart goes out to all involved. Please be careful of who you allow to be in the life of your children. Their safety is more important than the paycheck this man may bring you.
