Yeah, I bet the bank where she works told her it was either her job or the BoS. IMHO of course. Capt., you're at it early today. Your unrequited love for TA is so touching!

Alice wrote: This information was in the Glo Quips last week. Give us something new DP. Maybe an interview with the next Supervisor of the York District, Carter Borden. I'm with you Alice. This is old news. Curious how the Glo Quips reported this before anyone else. I would look for it to be in the Gazette Journal this evening though. And an interview with Mr. Borden would be in order. I bet with Matt Sabo back, we can look for that to happen. We should be hearing from him soon.

As the time is drawing near, there's been a few folks approached as recently as Relay for Life last Friday, about running. One is a somewhat well known media type, we'll see if he decides to take up the cause.

If they are a well known media type, then they would know that the window has closed on being a candidate for this election. That is why the Democrats had their primary on Tuesday.... Once the polls closed at 7, declaring for an elected seat is done.. According to the paper, the only ones who put in final paperwork were Theberge - at large, Borden and Altemus - York, and Northstein and Weisel - Petsworth. That sounded pretty done to me.

It's sad that she isn't running because of pressure from supervision at the bank. Wonder who the ass backwards supervisor is that isn't a supporter of democracy and freedom of speech?

There is such a thing as a "write in" candidate... but they seldom do very well!

Maybe they felt her candicacy would hurt their bank business. There is a lot of negative issues with this current board, which you may not agree is correct, but none the less, they are real. And she's been tied to these very supervisors. Any business has a right to let their employees know if their outside activities affect the business, they could be looking for a job. That is the business's right. Besides, TA sued her employer over time off for these same political activities so if I was Ms. Garrett's boss, I'd be nervous about her running. Everyone makes choices in their life and apparently Ms. Garrett's choice was employment over political office. For now. I wouldn't be surprised to see her run at a later date, should the situation change. But the bottome line, pressure from her employer is only rumor. Her statement said she had committments at work the prevented her from running. Unless she has made those committments public knowledge, you're only going on rumor.

This shows you how petty EVB bank is. I learned just a few days ago of why Della is not running and it was either her job or the BOS. Frankly i belive this is BS. I have been a long time investor at EVB but after learning of this I beleive it s time to take my money somewhere else.

But the point is that being approached is nothing, why do people think it's such a big deal? The current bos is people like us, just neighbors who have a desire to help. Wouldn't it be nice to have more people that want to contribute, instead of just throw jaunts from the sideline?

Making good, sound business decisions for the good of the bank, its customers and stockholders IS NOT being petty. Just guessing,(I know, I know, that'll get me in trouble -again) there were probably alot more folks who are investors and/or customers who made their opposite feelings known about her assocation w/ the BOS4) If you watch the tape of the Jan 2/3,'08 meeting and saw the pictures of Garrett in the audience the meeting night and with the BOS 4 when they went to court AND read that she was a campaign staff member for Woodard (I'm not positive is she was his campaign manager or treasurer - I've heard both) you know that she's tied in with them. And they haven't been exactly positive news for the county for the last 18 months - whether their actions were supposedly to the letter of the law but not the spirit of the law - you know, honorable, transparent-type actions.

And while I don't dislike Garrett, I'm not crazy about the company she keeps (and you know what Mama says - you ARE judged by the company you keep.)
