Gloucester petitioners won't have their day in court

There are 180 comments on the Hampton Roads Daily Press story from Apr 17, 2009, titled Gloucester petitioners won't have their day in court. In it, Hampton Roads Daily Press reports that:

Parker fined the petitioners $2,000 each in December. The $80,000 would cover part of $129,321 in attorney fees and court costs awarded to four county supervisors who had faced petitions to remove them office, after the effort was thrown out of court.

Well, I can tell you that ALL 40 signed to have Emmert represent them. And all of the names were included on the motions he filed on their behalf.
I think I should change my name to
RE-PETE: Get a copy of Emmerts filings!
You know perfectly good and well that I am not down there, and don't have access to anything that Atty. Emmert has filed. The fact that their names are included doesn't mean they can't change their minds, or decide to move away, and it certainly doesn't prevent anyone from becoming ill. As I said in my post; I don't have first-hand knowledge of these things, and they may or may not be true. Unlike some of the people on here who claim to be all-knowing/ all-seeing, I have sense enough to realize that nothing is written in stone. Don't you?

BTW... Where is your backup Gae? She hasn't been around in a while. When I asked previosly about a post she wrote, everyone thought it was an imposter. I did at first but now I wander. Maybe she has come to ralize the TRUTH! You will to...eventually

I don't think you or any other board supporter has changed anyone's minds about their actions and motives. But I sometimes WONDER if you are as deluded by this board as they are themselves.

I'll bet people are just sick and tired of it all. This has been going on for a long time now. No real progress has been made on either side. Not really. Just promises, and threats, and a whole lot of mud slinging. Hope y'all don't get splattered. Well, not all of you anyway. There's some on here that deserve some mud.

I know prefectly well that you could have access to the filings if you wanted to ask your 'friends' for a copy, if you were that interested in finding out what was filed. But, I also know you would rather rely upon what you hear through phone calls and read by email.

One person, from the beginning, wasn't interested in filing the appeal but did so anyway. Two or three people not wanting to go through the appeal process isn't so strange since it is expected to run well into next year. By and large, most everyone is still wanting to appeal, judging from the number that showed up at a meeting with Mr. Emmert recently.

Ha! The ones that are really sickened by this are the 4 and their attorneys because it isn't turning out quite the way they had planned. It will go on for awhile ONLY because the can't figure out how to vote their attorneys the money from the county without getting involved with 'conflict of interest' laws. They have themselves in the perfect Catch 22 no matter HOW the appeal turns out.

I don't think even you believe that the 4 BOS are the only ones tired of this mess. I'm not taking sides here. But I don't think this has turned out "quite" the way anyone thought it would last year this time. Wouldn't you agree? If you really want to get technical about it....they have more "wins" in their column than your group does. It's a sad situation for everyone, and I'm thinking that more people want this over with than you imagine.

The court orders the money, it's not a matter of if they vote or how they vote, it becomes a bill to the county just like any other bill, that needs to be paid. Do they vote to pay the electric bill?? come on Pete you have to be smarter than that..HMMM maybe not.

The the county can go to court and fight it also. Then TA and company can pay their own legal bills. You fail to see the bigger picture here.

I am sure it has been much harder emotionally on the 4 than anyone else. I don't think that many people are that 'sick' of it. Most are just waiting to see how the appeal turns out. That will be awhile and shouldn't concern that many people. The rest of it is over and...life goes on.:-)

of a dying man? You may continue to keep guessing about my whereabouts, but, posting is VERY limited if any just think due to the cirmcumstances, hope you understand that one.

The county can chose to fight the bill also. Ever heard of an appeal? The county has a right to appeal the decision also. And I'm willing to bet if the judge's decision on the 40 is overturned on appeal, the County could get the payment of fees overturned also.

Sorry about the delay in responding, but I have been on vacation.
So, you are saying that you are o.k. with people being unethical in the same paragraph that you profess your Christian values. Interesting. As far as your request to remain "speechless", I just don't think my "smarty pants" will allow it. The free American in me just needs to speak out when my government is not serving me to the best of its abilities. I certainly served it with the best of mine. As far as what I can do to make things better, I am doing that, but you and I have very different opinions on how that is accomplished.
You speak of your educational background and what it affords you. Does your education tell you that once a person is elected to office that you have no right to question their actions until the next election?

Needing direction in my life comes from my daily prayers for God's guidance in all that I do. There is no communication with the BOS, therefore I am not taking any direction from them. My educational background affords me the ability to decipher the terminology usage, information gleaned, actual actions, documentation and proper application of the law. Unless you can provide pure evidence of criminal wrong-doing, besides saying "they were unethical" and being a smarty pants about their actions, I would implore you to be speechless. They had a job to do and they were elected by the People to do the job. Whether you agree with their actions in the BOS Meeting or not, they were the ones elected to conduct the County's business. The damage that has been created by misunderstanding and misinterpretation is great and there is no healing in the near future. The Justice System has done a fine job in these issues. If there is evidence that has not surfaced that is of most importance, please reveal it! Otherwise, try to rationalize your behavior. Seek out what you can do to make things better, life requires that of us. It requires it of you and me inclusive.
