It would be nice if we had a few other retailers in Gloucester. Wouldn't have to keep trekking across that darn bridge and support businesses in NN/Hampton. Keep our money in Gloucester and help strengthen our own economy within.

Why do people say ignorant things like that on here? Does insulting a community, that you clearly have no knowledge of, make you feel like a better person. Are you really that pathetic?

Hey, when I am in Gloucester, I stop by Ruby's or whatever. So revenues do come out side the county too. Unless hayes thinks I am the only outsider coming into thier turf. Heck, my physician ther lives in Williamsburg, it is going to even out if they quit tearing the woods down.

One of the nicities I always found in Gloucester,
like the old Poland's etc...was homey, family oriented and country. You know that was the first time I had ever lived in the country, aside from England. I loved it there and still do, doesn't it show hayes?

Please don't become Lower York County though, going towards Newport News, that is a sight for sore eyes regardless of high dollar dress shops at Kiln Creek etc....I hate it there, too busy doing nothing it seems.

No, that could have been said for MANY MANY MANY counties in the ancient days. Ocean View cleaned up didn't it? You keep the cross dressers there, and Gloucester will keep good pedigree. lol

This is just the next step in turning our county into another trashy looking commercial area. As long as we have supervisors who care about nothing more than catering to developers, that is what we will get. There is already a new strip shopping center...just built...with nothing in it on 17. We are a RURAL community. I moved my family here to get away from the ugly commercialization and all that comes with it.

I think the shopping center is a great idea. I hate going across the river to shop. I also love Belk. The one in Williamsburg is overpriced; however, not all Belk stores are the same way.

It ain't the supervisors, most of the 'stupid' development was laid in place before these sups were elected.

i think it would be great to have a few more retailers. if the county is going to grow in size with all the new houses and people moving in we might as well have some of the conveniences that you get in the cities.

I moved my family over here from NN. It is a cesspool of thuggery over there. Gloucester is full of nice people, and it is safe here. That is more than I can say for a lot of places in Hampton Roads.

Well, I guess we need this type of development to offset the residential development this board continues to endorse.

The new businesses and office spaces that have been constructed can hardly be described as trashy and are certainly not the result of a BOS seated for such a short time. Gloucester may have been primarily rural, but will not always remain rural. It's great to have a Starbucks, Home Depot, Lowe's and more. Belk will be a welcome addition to shoppers.

I would like to see a few more retailers in the area. Going over the bridge sometimes gets old. How about a Sams Club or JC Pennys

And if you don't get your butt in gear and start lobbying the BOS and the Planning and Zoning boards, ya ain't going to get it.

Hey, you're buddy Ressler is on the Comp. Planning Committee, she'll take care of it. And we'll have just houses and no businesses.

Ain't that right, bill.

It's the least Gloucester county can do for its citizens. I can't believe you have to pay a toll to drive into Gloucester. I love driving over the bridge into Yorktown. The trees and the roads are so nice. I can't say the same for coming over the bridge into Gloucester. Gloucester won't even keep the road median's cut. You people talk about bringing in businesses and making the place look trashy. I say it already looks trashy. It's not until you get into the Courthouse/Walmart area that you feel like you've reached civilization. One can only shop at Walmart so much. It's tiring having to cross the bridge everytime I want more shopping or restaurants. Having more of these things in our community does not make a place trashy. Williamsburg has loads of shopping and I would never say Williamsburg was trashy. Think of all the jobs these new shops would generate. It took my daughter about 5 weeks and 20 job applications to get a summer job. Bring on Belks. Let's get a Penneys and an Outback and an IHOP. The day we get a Waffle House or a Huddle House is the day Gloucester is officially considered trashy.
