so the judge punishes people for practicing their right as citizens to exercise that same right to challenge their government. hey it was optional for the officials to have lawyers. shame on that judge, shame on gloucester.

If you have a RIGHT to own and carry a gun, why do you need a permit to carry it under your coat? They may have had a right to challenge their government, but in a truthful, legal manner. Even if you have a RIGHT to do something, there are still rules to follow...

No, the petitions were NOT based on the indictments Cory. Perhpas you should interview again, some of the petitioners.
It was their disgusting behavior on Jan. 2/3, 2008
They know EXACTLY why the citizens petitioned for their removal. Their just so damned arrogant that they think what they did wasn't hateful, mean, decietful and again, disgusting.

Where the heck is Matt, he's supposed to be covering Gloucester for the DP.

Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Some how the judge stopped reading before he got to the last section. The General Assembly has modified the law to prevent this from happening again. I hope that on appeal this is thrown out. From everything I have read, the supervisors brought their problems on themselves. While after much legal wrangling the letter of the law may not have been violated their actions gave the perception that they violated the spirit of the law.

Just like the Gloucester sports programs, it appears that their government is losing also.

see what happens when you put 40 people together, that couldn't change a light bulb, or fix a flat tire. but all claim they know how to fix the counties problems. Dumb as rock = dumb as a rock. If you have one bottle cap it's liter, if you have 40 it's trash, it does not gain value, grouping it together.

Well, when I read the email from Meg this morning, I was not shocked Parker did not amend his sanctioning.

Lets remember, Parker won the Muzzle Award...he is DONE/RETIREMENT looms over his pointed head.
Along with all the above posts,I agree.

# 2 NOPE! Parker has been digging his "grave" since he slapped the sanctions on the 40.
And that was indeed a gross negligent act.Parker knows, but, TROY ordering Parker around like a dog on a leash has cost him royally.

Bye Parker, it is finished-done-muzzled. Have a pleasant retirement thinking about YOUR FLAWS.

Didn't you know they got rid of Matt so they could pay for all the pretty colors. Also he was one of the few people who was worth anything so he made all the rest look bad.

No, no, no. He is back and writing for the DP and covering Gloucester. This one just must have slipped past him.

Actually, Matt seems to have turned over a new leaf and is trying out 'honest' reporting for a change.

Check out his blog on "DP--Who's on team Gloucester' under the heading "Halfway There". It is a condensed version of Cory;s piece only several hours earlier.

C'mon bill, Matt is the same reporter as always, you just didn't want to believe you're buddies are dirty. You've never wanted to listen to the truth, so you blamed Matt.

Well, it took Parker six months to put out this order, I guess it'll be Christmas before we see his actual order for the extra fees. Then Troy will ask for more fees to defend these second round fees. And then, another order, more fees, another order, more fees....

This could go on forever, or at least until Parker comes up for reappointment, which, by the way, is next year.

Then, maybe a reasonable judge will toss the whole thing and, if we lived in a perfect world, reinstate the recall petitions.

Matt doesn't need to turn over a new leaf. His reporting wasn't ever dishonest. BOS4 supporters just didn't want their buddies' actions exposed.

Judge(or so you call yourself)Parker, could you please give me the address from what catalog or email school you got your law degree. I need a doctor degree or something to hang a shingle. Pasterizer Woodard could help me--also. What about it Woody, could you give me your correspondence school where you got your sheepskin-or whatever you got? PS Woody, I read your article in the Gazzette--the lady owning the paper did a great job correcting(editing)the entire article you talked her into printing.

Here is an update for the Citizen's of Gloucester
from a friend's email to me:

The ACLU will file Friend-Of-The-Court Brief Filing an Amicus brief on behalf of the 40 Petitioner's.

The fines, first announced last fall but, made it official only this week. This has prompted the General Assembly to ban such fines because they have a chilling effect on others who attempt to
use VIRGINIA LAWS for removing a public official.
