When reports of arrests come out there is rarely ever a photo or mugshot or a home street address attending the listing of arrested suspects. Usually the community only gets a name and town and sometimes an age mentioned. It has gotten to the point that even Race is withheld. With so many dual use names now days one can many times not even know the suspects gender.
The general public is stuck with running suspects names through search engines to see if any thing related or prior comes up.
Public wanted notices are a worthless gesture too because the wanted persons are only named and aged with a bland description and no photo. Could be anyone. I remember once that some authority or another was looking for a Black guy that had a tattoo on his upper forearm and during that time it had been 20* outside for a week.
Being so cold out and no attending photo he probably got clean away.
The personal addresses of suspects and the personal addresses of convicted suspects, especially meth and crack dealers along with photo or mugshot should be publicly available on the internet for a great variety of reasons.
Anyplace I have ever lived the excuse the police use to not disseminate this information is that it just tells people where to go and who talk to to get crack and meth and I don't accept that.
If that data were available I would suspect that 95% of the population would use that to recognize who not to talk to or have social relations with anywhere anytime. It would be used to tell their children of who not to talk to and what street to stay off of and be used to instruct their teens drivers of streets and areas to avoid. Even be used to avoid the possibility of moving to a street or area that has numerous entries of arrest and convictions.
Maybe 5% of the population would use that as a source to attempt to get drugs and as such I don't see how the cops could pass up such an opportunity to manipulate that and draw those people to that house, street or area.
The whole community benefits by making known the photos, names and addresses of suspected and those convicted.
A couple years worth of that information could be placed on a map to identify bad areas or high crime areas to be avoided or not to mistakenly move too.
Any city not producing such information can easily hold up a map and say, "Look at this map, we don't have such problems in our town listed in red."
Wouldn't you like the opportunity to know where not to move to or where not to buy a house?
Wouldn't you like the opportunity to recognize these people through the curtain or door peephole to know that it is inadvisable to open the door?
Wouldn't you like the opportunity to know where to instruct your kids and teens not to go and who to avoid contact with?
Wouldn't you like the opportunity to recognize wanted murder and rape suspects in public places or even on the lam and knocking on your door or approaching you in a parking lot?

I will tell you one better.
In some states the sex offenders are ordered to lifetime monitoring with a GPS anklet. If these offenders go around a school, playground, daycare, or anywhere kids are confined; an alert is sent out to police.
There is a company in Wilmington, North Carolina that even has a device that can alert victims.
It is called the 'stalker alert.'
