It's back up. Well- sounds nice. I hope they keep it up better than they have the rest of the garden. The buildings and painted areas look worn in places. Many of the gardens often look unkempt and overgrown. Still, it's a nice place and the trails are wonderful. Nice of the Kimbrells to do that.

This is great news. Botanical Gardens are a nice family outing for the grandparents, but the kiddos get bored quickly. I've only been out to DSBG a few times, but would definitely consider it more often if they had a kids garden.

The gardens are a total joke. You can see better landscaping at the Local Wal-Mart...and a better selection of plants too. This turkey is poorly run and they were in such a hurry to build great big building that aren't maintained that they forgot to hire anyone who actually knew anything about plants. People who visit a botanical garden want to see new and rare plants and plenty of them. This garden is over run with weeds and if you see a plant that you aren't familiar with... The odds are that you will never know what it is because they don't label things and the people working there don't know much about plants. The Stowe is poorly run and admission is way too costly.

It can't be that bad, they are getting a $900 million dollar highway built in their honor!!!

The national Center for Charitable Statistics has a website that allows you to see the financial statements for the gardens. Take a look. At the rate the place is bleeding money, they will be out of business in just a few short years. I agree with the comments about there being nothing to see there and at twelve bucks a person it's the biggest ripoff in the county. I'm not surprised that it's a great big flop. The garden needs a good cleaning as do the facilities. They also need new management that has a passion for plants and someone behind the counter who is capable of answering the most basic gardening questions. The garden is a total disappointment and the toll road isn't going to bring in paying customers more than one time...and you can be sure that they will tell their gardening friends what a disappointment it is. You can see the fountains on google images, and sadly, there is nothing else to see there. Both Bill Steele and Daniel Stowe would be horrified at what is being done out there.

There will never be a $900 million dollar road in a state that cannot stay afloat. And if Gaston County is stupid enough to think that a $900 million dollar road is going to do anything but line the pocketbooks of those who invested along the route, think again.

Agree only I give them less time to keep the doors open. It was at one time beautiful, but the one-timers will surely be disappointed! No repeat business for sure.

It's only a matter of time until they either want the county to take it over and foot the bill for this boondoggle or they close it and run through with all the money they get for Stowe's land as relatives tend to do when they get control over money that they had no part in amassing. I agree that it was beautiful when Mike Bush was in charge and Doug Ruhren was designing the beds and borders. Now it's just a big ol' mess and the idiots running it aren't bright enough to see that it's being run right into the ground.
