The passager's father was a former councilman I'm not sure about whether he was mayor at one time too. Clyde Deitz.
I thought there were restrictions in place about police chases? Just asking. Sad that the good ole boys in blue in Belmont who are known for their rash decisions jumped into a chase that ended with two innocent victims. Why didn't they run the tags & send someone to pick him up? Nope too easy! Had to make a point...too many big egos! Well you got your man without a license in exchange for 2 innocent lives & 2 devastated families not too mention a grieving community!

Very sad that 2 lives were lost because of a dumb non license driver deciding to flee &also dumb police to feed into his crap and follow his lead. I just hope this never happens again my heart goes out to the victims families.

The idiot was drunk and tried to hit the officers. How about knowing the facts before you spout off your ignorance. ALCOHOL killed them.

Alcohol was apart of it but a it wasn't the only factor even if this man wasn't drunk I don't think he still would have complied with check point.

You are a pitiful little person who doesn't know how to live in society. Learn some manners - you are repulsive.

Oh - now here we go. The facts - which are in very short supply in this discussion - state that he was charged with DWI.

How do you know it was Alcohol?

Can you provide a link to how much his Blood Alcohol level was, or you making an ASSumption?

If you decide to drink and drive (or take a substance that impairs your judgment), run through a police checkpoint, endanger police officers, drive at very high speeds on grass to avoid police, speed through a traffic signal on red at a busy intersection, and run from a horrible collision instead of helping the injured, you have made conscious decisions that are not in your self-interest or in the safety and welfare of others. The thing is short supply here is common sense and human decency.

I've been *reprimanded* by other posters to check my facts.

Are you sure that Alcohol was involved?

or are you making an ASSumption?

Hmmm?

Let's hope the Belmont PD aren't creating a scene!

It starts with "If." It's entirely hypothetical. There is no reference to this week's tragedy at all. I did not suggest in this post that the driver that killed Kevin and his passenger had consumed alcohol (which is not capitalized by the way).

Yes, where are the FACTS? Not what the Gazette said, but FACTS! Alcohol? What level? Tried to hit a police? Who witnessed this other than the police? I know for a FACT that the BPD will lie! I worked with the County Police & have been involved w different local depts & BPD will shade the truth to cover their butts & get their man . Sorry, to you who live with blinders on....but The Truth does Hurt...and yes I am exercising my Freedom of Speech that I fought for!!!

they probably are reevaluating their "next time" and possibly a new proper protocol. FYI "there" means place or position and "their" refers to people. Good day.
