im all for helping CHILDREN in need, but im also cynical. did you see the list of qualifying stores? kmart, peebles, hibbett sports, fashion bug,and they only get 200,maybe 250 bucks to do it with! kmart is the only store anyone who needs these vouchers could benefit from! whats the angle that these stores qualify while others dont? i smell kickbacks!!

So now they get clothing vouchers, food stamps, welfare, and HUD and they also get extra vouchers?

Maybe if the parents of these children were more responsible and used birth control and planned parenthood so don't have children they can't afford and actually used their assistance without cheating the system they wouldn't need so much help.

Glad to see the government is offering up another tit for the entitlement community.

What kind of person are you? This is designed specifically for the children. Is it their fault that their parents made bad decisions? And who do you think you are to decide who is entitled to assistance? I'm all for cutting off people who abuse the system, but this is for kids who CANNOT provide for themselves!!

I'm a responsible person. That's what kind of person I am. I'm sick and tired of seeing children suffer because they are just extra checks to their parents (I use that term in the loosest sense possible!) and not blessings. So what will happen to the extra $200 per child that a welfare receiving family will get? I know! It's going to go to beer, cigs, or pills, or maybe to pay off the overdue cell bill or cable bill. It sure won't go to a savings account!

As for these kids not being able to provide for themselves that's total horse s$@?!!! I have had at least one job since I was 14. I used to mow lawns or pick tomatoes. My parents were just rich enough to not qualify for welfare food stamps or any federal assistance, but I still wanted nicer clothes than kmart so you know what I did? I worked my tail off to get the things I wanted. I didn't have them handed to me.

That's the problem with our society. People have confused entitlement and charity. They feel that they are the same thing now. ODJFS is spending my tax money to give extra money to welfare recipients who are already getting my tax dollars Now a child grows up and sees mom and dad never have to go to work and still get anything they ever wanted handed to them so it just reinforces the entitlement culture.

Who am I to judge who gets help and who doesn't? I'm a tax payer and since it's my money I should have a say in it.

Oh and you are barking up the wrong tree. I give a lot to charity and give medical care to children on Medicaid on a regular basis. I also donate my care for free on several days a month both in this country and others. I'd say I probably do more than most for under privileged children. If the parents will not provide for them when we give them a hand out to do so then take the kids away and take the checks away.

"But I still wanted nicer clothes than kmart"...That's another problem with our society. Too many people living beyond what they can afford. You want to know another problem? People like you assuming, generalizing people getting this stuff. The mere fact that you're bitching about it, but yet "donating to charity", right. I think you're full of shit, to be honest.

I have a few family members who HAVE made it a part of their lives to help those less fortunate. Do they bitch about the shit that you do? No. They've actively done stuff to make life a little brighter for those that they could. I apologize if this comes across rude but I know people who get assistance like this program because they're raising OTHER people's children while the bio mom is absent and the bio dad is stealing, druging it up and impregnating young girls or beating them and staying out of jail, when he wasn't having a cigarette with an ex judge.

You give medical care to children on Medicaid on a regular basis? So you are a doctor with this attitude? Please tell me who you are Doctor, so I can avoid you. Doctors are reimbursed "giving medical care to children on Medicaid, so I don't consider that more of your "charity". You have a bad attitude.

I have to say that a lot of pp out there gets everything for free because they have more kids them they can take care of but I'm glad this program is out there. I wad laid off from work, I don't get foodstamps, my job now is fighting my unemployment so this is really going to help my two children out. I agree with mist but I have work 15 ys plus and my husband works, we need this.

It is sad that this will be abused by some. The system fails. A lot not all the government helped folks have entitlement issues. I have witnessed this many times. Wtf stated they worked to get there things. How is that living beyond there needs. It them working to get thing on there own. Kudos for them doing that. If some would work then we wouldn't be in the mess we r in now. And yes some of them CAN work and chose not to. They would loose theor check and insurance.

I said charity meaning I do a lot of free clinic work where patients pay nothing. As for you saying doctors are reimbursed for giving care to children. Ummm sometimes we are and a lot of time we aren't. And if you consider .50 on the dollar on average as being reimbursed then I think you should loan me a dollar and I'll pay you back .50 since you think that's ok.

As for telling you who I am? Nope sorry. I can't defend myself against slander due to privacy policies so if you can be anonymous then so can I.

I dont blame the children. I feel very sorry for them when I see how they are often treated and raised by their parents and I use parents in the loosest sense since many parents I see shouldn't be allowed to have children because I've seen farm animals get better care than some of these poor kids get from their parents.

So sorry I'm entitled to my opinion and I don't deny care to anyone but that doesn't mean I don't have an opinion about the entitlement culture and it growing.

To the person who is a single mother, no I don't think you are abusing the system. You are working and using the assistance to help your kids with medical care, but I have a question. Are you sterilized? You said you've been getting assistance since your oldest was born and you have two children. So you are saying you knowingly had a second child even though you knew you couldn't afford to take care of the one you already had? Were you using birth control? Are you receiving child support from the father or fathers of these children? If not then why not? You know you cannot afford children so have you made the decision to prevent further unwanted pregnancies either through tubal ligation or IUD? If not then you are just setting yourself and those funding the assistance up for further issues and hardships.

This is my gripe is we have people with multiple children and they knew they couldn't afford any of them but yet they keep having kids meanwhile the family who both parents are working like crazy are not having kids because they can't afford them. It's quite upset. This is what I mean by entitlement. Who cares who has to be pay for it as long as I get what I want. That's a horrible attitude to have and cultivate in children.

So hate on me all you want, but as long as I'm paying taxes (a lot of them) and I'm seeing this entitlement and abuse on a daily basis and you're on assistance I'll have an opinion and you can live with that.

I am behind u 100%. I agree with u. I over heard someone the other day that had a $3 co pay that they should he entitled for free meds due to there government insurance. The person actually said entitled. I wad floored. Some folks do think they r owed things. I work and I pay for my insurance and still pay 110 for my daughters asthma meds a month. When my daughter had surgery I was off for 6 weeks. My husband was working on his masters and working a 40 hour week making about $10
an hour. We made $10 getting any help and that didnt include our students loans due to us getting an education to better ourselves. The lady at welfare office told me if I got pregnant then we could get assistance. Really!!!!!! All I needed was help for the 6 weeks I was off. To this day we still have only one child due to financially reason. We live a decent life now, but would be cutting it close if we had another. Thank goodness my mother helped buy us food during that time and the Dr. completed favors for us to help get my daughter the care she needed due to complication from the surgery. and wouldn't of gotten due to us having bills. I see way to much abuse with welfare and I am thankful to the folks that actually use it.right. it is a great program but gets abused a lot.

I AGREE WITH YOU. BIG WHOOP YOU WORKED YOUR WHOLE LIFE. SO DID I? DOES THAT MAKE ME JESUS? ON THE SUBJECT, JESUS WAS POOR LEST WE ALL FORGET!ANYONE WHO COULD JUDGE ANYONE FOR NEEDING A HELPING HAND IS AN ARROGANT, ILL INFORMED MORON. THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO ABUSE THE SYSTEM AND THAT IS THE GOVERNMENTS PLACE TO INTERVENE NOT YOURS! YOUR JOB IS TO BE A LAW ABIDING CITIZEN, PLAIN AND SIMPLE!MANY OF THESE CHILDREN MIGHT ALSO COME FROM PROUD FAMILIES WHO WERE LAID OFF DUE TO THE ECONOMY OR SINGLE MOM'S WITH DEADBEAT MEN IN THEIR LIVES. MAYBE MEN SHOULD BE MORE RESPONSIBLE INSTEAD OF WALKING AWAY FROM THEIR CHILDREN THERE WOULD BE LESS WELFARE MOMS! NOT ALL PEOPLE GET THEIR NAILS DONE OR PAY CABLE! WHO ARE YOU TO ASSUME? AND FYI. 3% OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET GOES TOWARDS WELFARE SO GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE. IVE SEEN A VAN PULL UP IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND SEEN POOR IMMIGRANT CHILDREN TAKING USED CLOTHING FROM THE VAN. KNOW HOW I FELT? SADDENED. GIRL IS PROBABLY TEASED AT SCHOOL AND ALL THAT BUT SHE HAD NO CHOICE AND YOU SIT HERE AND SPEW THIS SHIT? I MAKE IT A POINT TO DONATE ALL MY CHILDS STUFF. CLOTHES, BOOKS, COATS, U NAME IT FOR THE SAKE OF ANOTHER CHILD! YOU SHOULD DO THE SAME INSTEAD OF BEING SO INDIGNANT THAT GOD FORBID, A CHILD IN NEED IS MADE A LITTLE HAPPIER AND HAS A LITTLE MORE SELF ESTEEM THANKS TO THE KINDNESS OF OTHERS! YOU MAKE ME INCREDIBLY SICK TO MY STOMACH

Every child deserves the right not to be judged on how they are dressed. Some people are using the system as a cruch. But there is some actually trying to improve there life. I am sorry but every child deserves new school clothes rich or poor.

Wow I can't believe a doctor would complain about getting .50 to each dollar. A typical doctor visit is at least $75. You call that charity? Alot of people will avoid healthcare that they or their children need because having a roof over their head next month is more important. And I can tell you that doctors don't exactly give a thorough exam when you see them for that whole whopping 15 minutes.

really who do you think you are i am a widowed mother of 3 small school aged children who works and still cant provide for 3 kids going back to school on a single income . maybe if people such as yourself were in our shoes instead of carrying silver spoon in your mouth you might just have the brains to understand . so just shut up and send us all some of your money and i hope you choke on your silver spoon. and actually at the time my husband was alive we planned for three children unknowingly that my husband would pass away .
