Bobby Cockerell CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky.(AP)- Federal agents have secured arrest warrants for three escaped Indiana inmates who are suspected of assaulting three Kentucky men and stealing guns, cash and clothing.

Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Agent George Huffman in Lexington told The Associated Press that warrants for the three men on gun charges have been issued. The men escaped from the Branchville Correctional Facility in Indiana on Friday.

Kentucky State Police say the men attacked three brothers in the northern Kentucky town of Sanders on Monday and took a dull-green 1998 Ford Ranger 4X4 super cab with Kentucky license plate 7824Bz.

On Monday, troopers put out word to agencies in neighboring Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia and Missouri to watch for the three inmates. Police said the escapees are Bobby Cockerell III, 31, of Jeffersonville, Ind., who is serving a 20-year sentence for burglary; Christopher J. Marshall, 49, of Fort Scott, Kan., who is serving a 50-year sentence for dealing cocaine; and Jerry Sargent, 59, of Williamstown, Ky., who is serving a 50-year sentence for armed robbery and a 20-year sentence for criminal confinement.

Police have another reason to keep a close eye on the Tri-state. While in prison, Dry Ridge native Jerry Sargent took a bride. His wife lives in the Falmouth area. Her brother tells Local 12 the family fears for her safety. Authorities have searched her home at least twice.

Sargent also has ties to Grant County where he grew up. His mother lives in Williamstown. Police say he may be trying to harm a relative who refused the collect call charges allowing Sargent to talk to his mother from prison. His mother is reportedly very ill. Police say Sargent may be trying to see her one last time.
