If the economy is bad and people are out of work, How are you going to bring us out of the recession by freezing pay on the only real tax base you have left? Thanks President Obama for bringing us the USA to the point of being a socialist society depending upon the Federal Government for just about everything in our daily lives. Health care, jobs, welfare, education etc etc. If there is no war to fight then thousands of contractors are out of work, If you raise the price of fuel anymore and wont release the vast amounts of reserve fuel to level the prices out then people will just quit working and expect more government hand outs. When are you leaving Office so we the people can expect the economy to rebound.

Ms. Witherspoon is a disgrace and should be removed from her position within the union. Not only does she skew the facts, but is completely incapable of honesty. This pay raise is just another sacrifice for the good living we are provided by the US Army.

Well said! It is a good living for the area. At 1.4% the average gross monthly would amount to $67.

Would you prefer a furlough of the Federal employees versus no increase? Do you remember when the BRAC shifted an entire mission to another base? It would further impact the national budget? Give me a break! Assume 3,800 employees out of work and the impact of not having 2.2 billion to spend in the local market. It doesn't matter if you are a Democrat or Republican it would have the same financial impact.

People on SS are getting much less then the government employee and haven't gotten a raise in several years. they live on a very fixed income!!!No where near the $50,000 a year Letterkenny averages! Most are over 65 with medical expenses!

Oh boo hoo! Federal employees are overpaid and underworked. A pay freeze is a joke, the US should slash the federal workforce by no less than 50% and bring federal pay rates and benefits in line with the private sector.

It is great to see that Letterkenny Army Depot civilian workers get a wage freeze .
I'm a federal contractor at Letterkenny Army Depot. The last wage increase I recieve was over five years ago . Civilian and contractor work together on most jobs but civilians get wage increases every year .
If Letterkenny Arny Depot thinks all civilian workers should get a wage increase way not contractors workers . My cost of living went up too .

Both my husband and I work in the private sector. He has not received a raise in two years. I have not received a raise in one year and don't expect one next year. I think the pay freeze is a step towards federal deficit control but the federal gov't will need to do more to get the deficit under control. Overall military spending should be examined closely just like every other budjet item.

And for the most part federal employees make more than the contractors do for doing the same work. BOO HOO... poor federal employees, join the rest of the people that have not gotten a raise in years.... you think you are invinsible.. HA!

I think this is good considering most people at Letterkenny are over paid for what they do. I have a handful of friends that work there and all of them say they only work about 2 hours aday and the rest of the time is spent hanging out, getting online etc.

Deb Witherspoon is a disgusting liar. The contracted workers at Letterkenny have not had a raise for 3 YEARS!!! while the government employees have enjoyed raises every year. Poor Deb, her wage only went up $6.50 while all the contracted employees pay has decreased because of the higher insurance payments! And if you think the contracted workers maek $51,000 a year, let me sell you a bridge! And Jerry Mellot, union idiot, the gas prices have gone up for the civlian sector, along with food prices, but we have had less when the union cronies pay have increased. Your whining is falling on deaf ears and you are certainly not putting out the full story. Unions are a destruction to our society. They are no longer there for the worker...do your own research on how much money they have floated to your socialist President and my point is proven! This article is a sham and the Public Opinion should have talked to the contracted workers before putting this out there. "Why one sector of the workforce gets a pay freeze is very unfair and very discriminating to the federal work force," Deb Witherspoon said. YES DEB IT IS AND THE CONTRACTED WORKERS HAVE BEEN DOING IT FOR AT MINIMUM 3 YEARS! Where were the complaints then?!? You would have to have a pay freeze for 10 years just to have the private sector catch up to your wages! Shut up and suck it up!
