Franklin County spends hardly anything on social services. Obviously, using your math tells us that taxes in the county have been kept artificially low for a very long time & do not recognize the reality that every government service costs money. Makes me wonder how the county had all this debt piled up for the entire 16 years. The late 1990's were pretty prosperous for the country as a whole. The debt is the People's debt, not any commissioner's debt. The People have chosen to elect officials who promise services without adding the requisite costs.
We agree with you. We should consider replacing elected officials who do not use real math when analyzing both the sides of the balance sheet: revenues & expenses.
Vote Democratic!!! Ziobrowski & Gontz for Franklin County Commissioner!
another point: 16 year ago, B.T.- before thomas - the county had 450 full-time employees and the county population was approx. 120,000. Today D.T.- during thomas - the county has 900+ full-time employees and the county population is 140,000. The per-capita in 1994 was 1 employee per 266 county residents. With Bob Thomas today it stands
at 1 employee per 155 county residents. Government, at all levels, have gotten to big to fast, and now Franklin County is no different than the Federal Govt or State Govt. It is my conclusion that happened because of bad leadership - period.

HEY! Lets fire 500 employees! That'll fix something! Sure they'll go on unemployment, but at least we can have our taxes go down 5 dollars. I used to think that the Republican party was the Christian party, but they dont love their neighbors, they do judge others, and they dont look out for the worst off in society. They want to abolish unions. Next time you think that we should stop unions in the US think to your self "Would I want a smaller salary?" "Woukld I want unsafe working conditions?" dont get me wrong I think union employees should pay more into thier healthcare and pensions, but there is a line between taking everything from people, and compromise.

PEOPLE it's true. The incumbents think the PEOPLE OF FRANKLIN COUNTY ARE STUPID - BLIND SHEEP. They've got the whole smoke and mirrors going with the PUBLIC OPINION. They've initiated their attack campaign with lies and mud slinging to distract from the REAL ISSUES AT HAND - THEIR RECORD!!!! They haven't gone to a forum because they are AFRAID TO FACE THE PUBLIC. They have only agreed to go to the forum on May 12th because they have been given the questions in advance… HOW SAD!!! THOMAS, the PEOPLE OF FRANKLIN COUNTY got your number. They are INTELLIGENT enough to sort through the **** and find the FACTS. You can disperse you Henchmen (WILDMAN) to spread the lies… THE PEOPLE WILL SPEAK ON MAY 17th.

One thing that's consistently true about Republicans is that they could give a damn about the people they serve (the little man if you will), but they do make Government run efficiently and make tough decisions that need to be made in order to preserve that efficiency.

In the end it's give and take.

I have known Bob and worked with him as part of our Lions Club for some time now. I know he is actively involved in his church too. When you work with a person and see them unselfishly give of their time to do good for the community as well as hold down other responsibilities without missing a beat, it is easy to provide a testimonial for them like the one I provided. In a perfect world more people would be like Bob. We are fortunate to have people, like Bob Thomas who are willing to go the extra mile when it comes to providing service to their fellow man, because doing so is the best work of life. Bob's county government experience, knowledge and leadership makes him just that much more of a tremendous asset to our community.
