Ahhh...Matty...

It may have not been on purpose - but your headline has a bit of racist spin to it.

"Now we up de Big League...gettin our turn at bat"

Referring to old "Jeffersons" theme song about blacks moving up in post-civil rights America.

I think (hope) we've long past the need for that metaphor.

Even worse your theme seems to be "your ALMOST there" - what the heck is the "big league" in your metaphor? The Federal Govt?

Terrible, awful headline.

Good grief it never fails. Say something positive and encouraging about something and you'll have that person who has to make it negative. Too often we find ourselves ringing our hands, fretting over whether something we have said or done could be twisted into being "racist". This article is not racist, not even close. Schools have removed the nursery rhyme Bah Bah Black Sheep from kindergarten classes because it could be construed as "racist". I'm sure if you're walking around looking for racism you can find it everywhere, I mean, just look at the people at the diners asking for their coffee black, but seriously, it's all in your head.
