I don't understand the term 'character' in the headline. I thought you would be talking about one of the Ben Franklins.
It's a temporary position, the employee made demands, Fix-Diller wanted it this way, sounds like it was the only solution.

Should have been contractor.

POEditor responds to a comment about a typo in 15 minutes, but lets all sorts of inaccuracies go by without comment? What's that about?

"Inaccuracy" to one person may be "spin" or opinion to another. In any case, we couldn't begin to respond to each factual inaccuracy posted on Topix.

So is the article saying this individual was not a subcontractor under a 1099 per IRS regulations and
needed to be an employee?
The writer was clueless on how to report the IRS
regulations regarding contractor vs employee. Ask any CPA, which I am not, and the answer would be fairly clear.

Not posted on Topix, but in the Letters to the Editor carried by the PO. For example, MLK was not a president and the MLK memorial is not funded with public monies. The NFL Players Association is not on strike. The Einstein "quote" (I use the word loosely) is cut and pasted together with other sentences (I won't even go so far as to say other quotes).

Biggest problem with the story is that the PO got the "character's" name wrong!

What right does one person, this Carol Fix-Diller have in making such a call as not paying someone? Is she the boss? Isn't there other responsible people deciding this? Are they afraid of challenging her? Who is is she anyway? And what qualifications does she have in making such a decision? What kind of education does she have in making such a decision? Maybe the whole group needs investigated!
