The skills are not the same, you are correct. It would be much harder to train to be a Doctor than a Police Officer. But the analogy still fits, as the principal thought still applies.<quoted text>
Wow... You would conpare a policeman with a doctor! I think the skill sets are just a little one sided. Training someone to place cuffs on another person certainly isn't my idea of a brain surgen. Where do you think the young policemen of tomorrow will receive their training? I don't buy your idea at all.
A Police Officer does a little more than just 'place cuffs' on someone. I am not saying the skills can't be learned in a rather quick time; but having learned those skills and already having the experience makes it worth while to hire a retired Officer then someone off the streets. The amount of money and time spent in training someone would incur quite a cost.
