Wow... You would conpare a policeman with a doctor! I think the skill sets are just a little one sided. Training someone to place cuffs on another person certainly isn't my idea of a brain surgen. Where do you think the young policemen of tomorrow will receive their training? I don't buy your idea at all.
The skills are not the same, you are correct. It would be much harder to train to be a Doctor than a Police Officer. But the analogy still fits, as the principal thought still applies.

A Police Officer does a little more than just 'place cuffs' on someone. I am not saying the skills can't be learned in a rather quick time; but having learned those skills and already having the experience makes it worth while to hire a retired Officer then someone off the streets. The amount of money and time spent in training someone would incur quite a cost.

Too bad so sad! It is the new law.

No cuffs and shackels will result in more **** ups from the folks that should be restrained. Which will cause the officers to use other means of force, which could cause injuries that could have been avoided by just having on cuffs and the officers on the defense from use of force hearings. Not to mention more officers getting hurt. Cuffs should be on at all times.

County sheriffs = not real cops.
The Commonwealth of PA says so - so do its courts.

They are process and paper-servers with ZERO arrest and police powers. They are court babysitters and prison bus drivers to and from court appearances. They sell forceclosed homes and manage the paperwork for the banks.

That is all = nothing more.
Simply 'Google it.'

I wouldn't make a fuss - they are cops witout a true badge.

Enough said.

2 more added to the department that wants to do nothing and get paid for it. Sheriffs department is a drain on taxpayers money. Time to close up the donut suckers shop.

has focused on regular training. He has also updated his deputies' uniforms, vehicles, radios and computers.
How does this save money. Why not hire retired troopers and other municipal officers that do not need schooling instead of all the young inexperienced boys that must go to school and be trained for 19 weeks while being paid that whole time. vote sheriff out and get rid of his jack a$$ chief.
