The information under you name is where the server for your internet carrier is located. Nothing else. I don't know why some people do not understand this simple fact. You are not from New Hartford. Your internet signal is routed through there and that is all.
There appears to be some consistency with the New Hartford location stamp.

I, for one, have an honest internet connection. When I signed on from elsewhere, it listed that ISP location; when I sign on in Malone it says I'm here. So yeah, I've heard all that jabber about roaming locations etc., but, honestly, that is not my experience. So New Hartford is New Hartford. If it IS more than one household (and I don't believe it is) then there is enough similarity among them that the shoe still fits. As the old bard said, "...a rose by any other name would smell as sweet".

They can go to college, get and degree and then be qualified for a job that dosen't pay $7 an hour. There is no excuse. Especially when they can get a degree for almost nothing. I know that there are more law abiding citizens on the reservation than not. I'm just sick of the "poor us" game and I'm sick of so many thinking that they are above the law!
Are you talking about the blacks in our country also,oh wait,I know you wouldn't do that because you are a bleeding heart liberal democrat, right?

Actually, I agree with you. Nobody has an excuse to believe they are above the law and are "owed" something. No one should get an education or anything else for free, unless you earn a scholorship or something.

Smuggling goes back hundreds of years, most notable during prohibition, giving rise to the Kennedy's and the Rockefellers, and prior to that many other "enterprises" involving the fur trade and the like. Many a non-Native has accumulated wealth this way; let's not pretend that the prospect of easy money is not enticing to all, regrdless of ethnicity. To me, the core issue in the north is the poverty and lack of economic opportunity. If serious economic development steps coupled with education initiatives were taken by leaders, the drug trade would quickly be snuffed out amid strengthening families and communities. As for the underlying organized crime on the reserve, bottom line: until the residents of Akwesasne stand up to the scourge of the drug trade and demand an end to it, nothing will change. The problem is an insidious one that promises to consume and ultimately destroy the community from the inside out. The escalation of the violence and involvement of organized crime is only the beginning. The breakdown of families and communities will signal worse things to come. The key is to work together, on and off the reservation, to promote healthy living and strength of character, building resilience against this and other assaults on community well-being. Like it or not, you're all in this together and what befalls one community will ultimately spread to the next; so put aside your prejudices and vitriol and get to work solving the problem.

I really don't know what to tell you. I have an "honest" internet connection. I use road runner. I live 7 miles outside of Malone. I don't even know where New Hartford is. I truly have no idea why it says that. I am, however, not going to waste my time defending myself to you anymore. You are not going to believe me no matter what I say. I don't understand why you can't just discuss the topic at hand instead of attacking me because it says New Hartford under my name. Better yet, don't say anything at all.

Control yourself, New Hartford. Like anyone else here, I'll say whatever I say. I'm not bashing you one bit. Just your ideas as expressed in what you type. This thread, for instance: you begin accusing the natives on the reservation of all crime in this area. You plead with the state of New York to step in and do something to corral the savage natives. Somewhere in the middle you started screaching at me, beacuse I made a joke and obviously held a different point of view. As the reservation is sovereign by treaty you are not only flawed in your basic assumption that all crime on the border begins and ends on the reservation, it does not; you are also whistling in the wind. New York has no right to police the reservation, neither does Quebec, nor Ontario. There was smuggling here on a varying scale long before the natives and their friends and associates realized the potential to exploit ridiculous laws on every side, long before "law" enforcement authorities in one state, two provinces, and two nations deemed that this area was a jurisdictional nightmare. But conservatives do that, don't they? Conservatives vilify anyone and anything that doesn't look exactly like what they see when they look in a mirror. Well, NO. The natives are NOT responsible for all of the problems and crime here, just because they are different, just because they are other than you. When people are at each others' throats, that takes the focus off the good ol' boys, who just want to go on repressing the people here and robbing them blind. So, post as you wish, just don't expect that you're always going to get exactly the response you're looking for. If you expected everyone who posts here to just fall in line and agree with you, they will not. Welcome to the twenty first century, New Hartford. If you want closed logic and affirmation, stick with the ditto heads and that phoney maloney hogwash site, where if you see something you don't like you can just delete it. Or make a tape and play it in a loop: I'm always right, I'm always right, I'm always right, I'm always right, I'm always right...

NYS needs to start standing their ground when it comes to the reservation in regards to the drug trade, illegal cigaretts, human trafficking, ect. That also goes for Natives getting away with not taxing anyone for goods and services. Anyone who goes to the reservation to buy things who is non-native (including the casino) should be taxed. Quit backing down NYS. What are you afraid of? Without the money coming in from non-natives, the reservation would have NOTHING!
In many states the natives have jurisdiction over there own lands that states do not have the power to do certain things. It is like a state within a state.

Tribal nations have a nation-to-nation relationship with the federal government, not the states. This was enacted by treaty and has been affirmed in supreme court decisions, executive order, case law, etc. etc. etc. Again it is up to the people of Akwesasne to police their own territory. Instead of invoking sovereignty as a defense from liability and accountability, the Tribe should start acting like a sovereign and assume responsibility for this nonsense and do something. It would be nice if surrounding communities realized that it was in their best interest to work with the Tribe on this issue, since these problems do not recognize boundaries.

Oh for pete's sake, if the stuff wasn't moving across the reservation then it'd be moving across the farm fields of Burke. Or Churubusco. Or wherever, however. The problem is not the market forces of supply meeting demand, the problem is the ridiculous law that does not reflect reality in any way, shape, or form.

What the hell is your problem with it saying New Hartford under my screen name? As is has been previously mentioned, New Hartford has NOTHING to do with where I'm from or anything about me other than that is the router that roadrunner uses to connect me to the internet. Why are you being such an idiot? If the only thing you have to say to me is New Hartford related then keep your comments to yourself. I'd love to actually hear a valid argument against what I have been saying about the reservation. That is obviously not going to happen! I forgot why I never get on topix and try to have an adult conversation/debate. Discussing topics with people like you can only be compared to talking to a brick wall. Some of you people are so ignorant it's pathetic!

If you can't hold up your end of a discussion with logic, then by all means move on to personal attacks and character assassination. Way to go, New Hartford. Another smooth move right out of the Rove playbook.

After reading the article of Lee Marlowe I noticed that most of the Drug Trafficking Organizations and "mules" are all listed as White People and using actually exploiting and taking advantage of our Reservation and its unique boundaries. Akwesasne is simply USED as an open gate for you white people to make more illegal money. Smuggling in this area of Franklin, St.Lawrence and Clinton County has always existed. Remember is what YOUR GOVERNMENT who placed Natives on Reservations. The Indian Relocation Act of 1830. Such a shame that you have "blamed" Akwesasne for all the lawlessness that happens here in the north country. Are you on the Derek Champagne wagon burner crusade? He continues to ride up and down Franklin county on his horse as if he was in the Wild West; always pointing the finger at Akwesasne and making excuses for the whites that "fall victim" to the manipulation and temptation that Akwesasne has. Give it up and realize at the end of the day it will always be the WHITE MAN who has originally funded all drug exportations within a community of minorities. Did you forget the exportation/importation of slaves? And how did the White Men obtain those people? kidnapped and stolen from there native communities. FOr what to be sold, beaten, and EXPLOITED for the WHITE MAN to make a dollar.
