Yes, I was on other blogs as Nonpartisan Tiger Lilly and ButSerioiusly. This is a serious issue and it would be nice to hear from people and their views. Yes, I work for the SO but i am also a citizen and a voter with extended family that are voters. Lets start an ADULT conversation about this race, It effects everyone. Personally, I know most of the candidates. They are ALL GOOD men that do not deserve the PARODIES and outright SLANDER recieved from the other sights. It made me sick to my stomache.
Lets be part of the solution here. I encourage people to voice their opinions without childish insepid banter.
Yes I realize I am not well liked in the area but thats not my problem. Nor do I care. I DO care about where I live... and this county. Lets generate some healthy adult dialoge.

Problems: Image, proffesionalism and training.

Problem: No matter who wins, its gonna cost more to bail out drunken Uncle Ed for his weekend WWII flashbacks. In other words, the price for services will go up. Maybe even an emergency tax....I dunno.
Lets really talk here. I encourage....NO...I Challenge anyone to put their name on this thread and talk to me.

Everyone knows the economy is bad across the country. Human services budgets are getting smaller with no help from Springfield or Washington in sight. Our county is one of the poorest in Illinois.
Our residents, neighbors are making choices daily between intangibles (insurance) and tangibles,(food medicine),We have a 14% unemployment rate. A $75.00 traffic ticket can decimated a modest family.
I would like to ask any current candidate a few questions. Unfortunately, these type of problems do tie into law enforcement.

As well as providing service to the courts the Sheriff's office provides law enforcement in rural areas. With a bad economy, historically property crimes increase. Often, this is the first and only contact with law enforcement for the victims.

First impressions, response time and follow up mean alot.

What are your the plans to address this?

If any candidate happens along this sight I welcome your answer to any of these questions as well as anyone else who might want to add a question.

I think we are above the national average for children living below the poverty line. We have fragmented families, substance abuse, or just plain boredom. These are the environments many of our children are living in.

As a result, we have large incidents of school bullying. Kids damaging property theft...delinquency in general. The current juvenile system is inept at best.

Q: Any thoughts or plans on addressing this as sheriff?

I'm not sure of the current budget of the Sheriff's dept. I would guess over a million. The department has deputies, corrections, dispatch, kitchen, administrative, maintenance, medical personel...etc. I do know budgets go up.

Q: How do you plan to maintain adequate and balanced staffing particularly in corrections while remaining in accordance with state and federal guidelines?

Q: Do you plan to assist road deputies in obtaining state of the art equipment?
