Puppy Killer's Court Date Set for November 5, 2007 in Peach County

Jason Allmon, was arrested after he killed a neighbor’s family puppy by shooting her 12 times with two different weapons and a silencer. He was charged with Felony Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and Discharging a Weapon in a Residential Area after his own security camera footage showed Allmon with an automatic pistol and silencer. To her horror, the owner witnessed the killing directly in front of her. The Attorney for Mr. Allmon is Mr. Michael Chidester and he said "Mr. Allmon shot a nuisance animal on his own property. It wouldn't be a crime if he'd shot a raccoon or a possum. We don't see why this animal is anything but a nuisance animal. Mr Michael Chidester is on the Byron city council and moved into the city of Byron after he was elected to his 2nd term. The trial is scheduled for November 5th in the Peach County Court House in Fort Valley, Ga.

Ga. state law says that unless an animal is threatening your property, self or livestock, you cannot shoot it.

I would say a puppy wouldn't be a threat to much of anything.

A nuisance animal should be covered in the Peach Co ordinances - which I'm sure doesn't give residents a legal right to gun down a puppy.

Sucks to be this lit'l guy in court. He is about to see how the real world operates.
