This makes me sick. Who does the ACLU think they are? What is so bad about praying in Jesus' name? They will (ACLU) bow the knee one day. Whether they like it or not.

Man cannot fix our state and nations problems, we must rely and put our faith and trust in God. So when you removed God from your life and your decisions, don't expect results. Everryone needs prayer!!

This nation's Constitution and Bill of Rights was signed by 14 ordained Ministers. All gave credit to The Lordship of Jesus Christ. The first Continental Congress opened up with a 3 hour Bible study. How can even history buffs say that we are not a nation founded "under God"? If we continue to tell God to, "get out" of our lives, He will and we will as a nation pay the price for our ignorance. Sodom and Gomarrah were destroyed for far less than we are guilty of today.

What the religious nuts can't seem to comprehend is that this country is comprised of people of all different religious backgrounds who pray to many different deities...i.e. christ, Buddha, etc. Therefore, the whole point in this is that the city council can no longer allow prayer to a certain deity.

This country was founded as a Christian nation and no where in the constitution is there separation of church and state. People have been brain washed into believing that there is a separation. Read our history and you will find that our forefathers meant to keep this country as a Christian nation. But now you expected to rewrite history take out god and turn this country into an anything goes country. Then you want to set back and complain about our kids being out of control the high crime rate and why this country is going down the toilet. Well God says he will not bless a country that turns its back on him.

Not enough said WoodHPU...you need to read what it actually says in the Constitution, not what the liberal God-haters have misrepresented it to say. They have inserted so much bull in their interpretation of "separation of church and state" vs. freedom of religious expression. Study a little more please.

Once again, council does NOT have authority allow or disallow prayer to God. They are gonna find out the hard way that Buddha nor Mohhammed doesn't hear or answer prayers...only God does. Sadly, you may see who are the "nuts" are when it's all over. Hopefully you will discover it before it's too late.

I beleive that no one person should have the right to tell anyone who to pray or whos' name to pray in If they don't want to pray they have the God given rigth to leave the room. No one as told them that they had to stay. and the judge's shouldn't uphold just one persons right but everyone christian and non-christian

I wish they would all start with a moment of silence, end with a moment of silence and have nothing but silence in between. They would almost certainly get more accomplished that way!

You've hit the nail on the head! That is what YOU believe! Not everyone believes as you do and therefore giving us this new policy! People can still pray at the meeting, during the moment of silence, so I'm not quite sure why all the hoopla...unless it is simply the christian nuts that feel the need to shove their beliefs down everyone elses throats!

Im with wood on this one. If we had a devil worship before the meeting tarted, How many people who complain about that?? BUT there is no difference, its still prayer. Its just not the christian prayer. So what is wrong with a moment of silence?? is it hurting christians so bad that there are other religions in this country that they must have it all their way?? The ignorance is not in the government, its in the people who believe they can push their beliefs on everyone...

Again this country was founded as a Christian nation. It was not founded as a Muslim atheist Buddha or any other religion. History tells us this. Now we are expected to bow down to every group and change the principles that this country was founded on. Back when the constitution was written and for years after government meeting were opened and closed with prayer by the same people who wrote the constitution. This is not just about prayer at government meetings this is about the removing god and his word from every part of our lives. These same groups that are fighting to remove prayer from Government are fighting to remove prayer from Schools TV Radio from every part of our lives. Just because someone stands before a public meeting and says a prayer is in no way forcing you to believe in god. Just like know one is forcing you to believe what is said in these posts. It is your choice to believe or not. So how is saying a prayer or displaying a Christian symbol forcing you to believe?

There is no such thing in the Constitution nor the words. Just another damnable lie! And the foolish poeple quote it as truth proving they have never read the Constitution. Oh but that phrase is in the Communist Constitution!

Well how would you feel if you attended a meeting and someone stood up to give the opening prayer and they prayed to Allah? I am quite sure you would be livid, as that individual does not believe the same as you do. That is the whole point in the matter, not everyone believes in your god and therefore to appease everyone, the meetings now open with a moment of silence which will allow every single person in attendance to pray to their rightful deity without offending the christians, muslims, atheists, etc.
