YMCA gets go-ahead to develop Bethel Park

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says the recreation development plan submitted by the YMCA of metropolitan Atlanta has been selected for the 62-acre Bethel Park in Forsyth County.

I personally saw the VERY misleading info the YMCA had in their lobbies (of all the Metro-Atlanta Y's) that asked "Would you like a YMCA camp at the Lake?"

There was ABSOLUTLEY NO information about what the public would lose when the member signed the petition. But this is America. Where it is now a tradition to lie and mislead. And that is why they got the approval - thousands of soccer moms signed this petition drive without knowing of the OTHER public options (or apparently caring), and the Army Core of Engineers received a signed lisy declaring all the signers were in favor of the Y plan as opposed to the alternatives.
The Y management became very annoyed and defensive when asked about the other choices. Don't ask, just sign.

this not just another ymca it is ymca camp high haurbor a place were 1000s of kids lifes are changed every summer. were they can grow and learn life skills and if they stick with it till there about 15 as many do they learn leadership skill that are 2nd to none. and each of the counclers have to learn this skills in a 3 week course called the advanced leadership acadamy wouldent you as a parent want your kids around an envirmont like that instead of a park full of people whos backround you dont know. send your kid to high harbour and listen to the storys they tell you when the get back and maybe you would understand.

i agree with nglax21 100%. this camp has changed my life and i have learned leadership skills i couldn't have learned anywhere else. i look forward to this place every year, and i believe it has changed me for the better
