Once again, the betrayal of public trust placed in a member of the criminal justice system. It's a new tale every day it seems. What's the percentage of crooked law enforcement and correctional personnel now? Did it just go up a tenth of a percent?

This is becoming an almost common occurrence at that place. Are there no screening of job applicants there or is this all they have to choose from?

I agree. But this solution is way too simple.

Do you think Virginia has anybody capable of figuring it out?

Absolutely not, because the answer is too simple. How many male guards have been fired at this prison since it opened for sexual misconduct with inmates, how many wrist slaps have been handed out by sympathetic judges?

Remember this guy, Patrick Owen Gee who was head of security at the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women. He was convicted of four counts of carnal knowledge with a prisoner following a jury trial in October 2008. He entered Alford pleas to two other charges, and was sentenced on January 8, 2009 to 10 years in prison with five years suspended, plus two years of supervised probation.

Didnt he learn anything from the Major Gee scandal?? Same situation, same prison and probably the same judge...I would suggest that John Bland will end up w/the same fate...

This dumb A## was a Lt. not an OFFICER (or guard),Fluvanna employes app. 150 male OFFICERS not all are "bad-sex starved fiends". Most of them are good people, but when one fool messes up the whole staff pays. Don't judge the other OFFICERS by the acts of this supervisor!

What a great idea! God knows there is no way a woman can have sex with another woman, right? So, simple minds say, "let's just make 'em all women". Seriously?
The problem here is they pay guards at those jails barely 25K a year. Sure, thats better than some jobs, but you're not getting the cream of the crop by any standard. So, unless folks agree their government should spend more money to properly staff the justice system, you'll get more of this behavior.

Sounds like those people protesting for a "living wage" at UVa need to take their protest to the Fluvanna Correctional Center. At 25k per year, that's only $12 per hour. I'm sure if they paid the guards $13 per hour the sexual abuse of inmates would come to an abrupt stop. LOL

The only difference between most prison guards and an inmate is which side of the bars they are on.

Maybe if the Va system would stop locking up minor offenders for nonsense offenses they wouldnt need the amount of staff they do and they would be able to afford a better quality of employees. The idea of an all fem. staff is not the answer either, for the simple fact there are women staff that work there currently that engage in sexual misconduct with the inmates. This will always be a problem to which there is no solution.
