Please Note:

Certain Knoxville news channels are known for jumping the gun on "stories" from hearsay, just so they can have something to report. They often have to correct themselves post-broadcast. I find this unprofessional and feel it demonstrates the lack of validity of most of the information they present to our public.

Slander is a serious offense. If the teacher is found NOT GUILTY, there is an elevated possibility that after all is final, the teacher, as well as the school, could sue numerous individuals (meaning most of you on topix) for slandering their names and reputations as creditable educators.

The accused teacher has NOT BEEN ARRESTED and NO WARRANTS have been made.

Let our justice system do its job!

The article stated that there was "no arrest", just an investigation. Due to "allegations".

Blame it on the news all you want. At least they had the [email protected] to report it. Unlike some!

The only thing that was "recorded" was the alleged teacher picking the boy up from the school parking lot when he was supposed to be at the "doctor".

The Fentress Courier won't publish anything controversial. Tried to get them to publish some info that would be helpful for all of us who live here and they turned my news down. Don't know why they exist if all they are gonna do is publish the calendar of events...we need a newspaper that will publish the good and the bad...no just the events and funerals around here. My guess is one day someone will open up a paper and do a whole lot more with it.

If people in this would report drug abuse like they do sex abuse, what a difference it would be to live in this county. It's almost they like drugs better than sex!!!

So, you think a child being molested by an authority figure is worse than a drug addict. For God's sake, both are crimes, but a sex offender is much worse than a druggie. Druggies are just killing themselves and sex offenders are affecting the lifes of our children, not just themselves.

The teacher was arrested and taken to Morgan County jail. I have three boys that go to YAI and they were there the day she was arrested. So she was taken to jail outside of Fentress County.

The cases of arrest for drugs are listed in the paper every week. What else are you referring to?

to tango-6 go back and read my post, I daid "drug abuse"
these kids are getting drugs from someone, that is who I want stopped.I have buried several members of my family, several people I know have died also because of drug abuse. Dr.s should be monitered, Tenncare should be monitered, and street selling should be stopped. If I had my choice for my child to have sex with an older person or die from drugaddiction starting with smoking pot at age 10 or 12 which do you think I would choose------ a live child or a dead one?????

We need an "active" drug hotline, a Crimestoppers, a secure website or something, so the people of this county could report illegal activity. I think it would help alot, "if" law enforcement would take it seriously that is.

what am I referring to: How many arrests for pot are in the paper? How many arrests for alcohol are in the paper? How many arrests are made per year for selling tenncare purchased drugs? How many people are arrested for selling drugs they received from a pain clinic? How many Dr.s are arrested for giving patients cancer drugs for a "sore back"? 10 or 12 arrests a year will not stop the drug abuse in this county as long as people keep quiet and sit back and do nothing. One year ago I was told 60% or more of Y.A.I. students were using illegal substances, and today there is NO deterent in place to discourage the use of illega substances at Y.A.I.

Priorities are in the wrong place!

When news spreads that you can get away with molesting a child in Fentress County. There will be perverts from everywhere moving here!

What would you say the odds are of an innocent teacher resigning her position and a being under a District Attorney investigation would be in our county? Very, very slim I think.

I'd rather have a child that is smart enough to know that both of these scenarios are WRONG. One is no more "right" than the other. I made it through high school without losing my virginity or doing/trying drugs. I guess it depends on your raising...This is directed to both parties involved.

Well I know parents who did raise their children right and they ended up having a child that abused drugs. No parent that loves their child wants to loose them to drugs or any other bad thing. I hope this never comes back to bite you in the behind.
