Perhaps by a disgruntled black officer who just wants to mess with whites regardless of what they may actually by doing. It could happen!!I'm calling bluff on that one, Jody. How can a middle aged white lady be racial profiled? What exactly were you being "questioned" about? Were you accused of being a serial recycler?
Bryan J. Durman is the 19th law enforcement officer who died in the line of duty in Fayette County.

That's the thing, this was a topic about Durman and my response to the person thinking "hero" didn't apply. I disagreed. The poster brought up this unrelated detour, which is a worthy subject for discussion, but NOT on this thread. So out of respect for Durham and his family, I'm dropping this line of talk on this thread. I'll be glad to continue on a separate panel if you want to bring it up.

Of course anything that doesn't paint cops in a great light must be a lie. I was laying down in bed when I heard the cops car outside. When I went outside the officer was in his car and told me he caught the thieves trying to steal them, but they got away. He made no attempt to catch them; he just let them go and yes a rent-a-cop could have done that. I'm not assuming he didn't try to catch them, he told me himself and said it's because he didn't think he could catch them. I know I know it must be a lie.
You can try to make it out as if a police officer is so hard to replace, but there are plenty of people lining up to take over. Lexington did not skip a beat other than the traffic problems caused by the funeral. A grocery bagger dies and someone is hired to replace them. Things are no different when it's a police officer. Disrespectful? Maybe; write me another poem if it bothers you that much. You must be dying to write about jizz.
Have you been to Pimlico? You make it sound as if it's some crime hotbed. While it's not as nice as Hartland, it's not exactly some horrible ghetto either. Stopping by and saying hi while getting a feel for us is one thing. Searching us, sitting us on the concrete while talking trash to us, and threatening to arrest us when we ask to be left alone once it's clear that my friend lives there and we're his guests is another. One cop even told us to go inside as if there was some kind of curfew. A small group of people in their 20s being told they aren't allowed to stand outside; that's ridiculous.
What guns are you talking about? From what I read he was checking out a noise ordinance violation when he was hit by a vehicle. To me a hero is somebody that knowingly puts their life on the line to help another. You can think he's a hero all you want, I'll just call him unfortunate.
I go to bed every night.=)

I had a disconnect on the guns connection, I was referring to the other officer several days later who making the traffic stop and got blasted by two guys in the car. A bullet proof vest saved him. Even tho' that wasn't the same situation that Durham faced, the possible scenario is the same. EVERY call a cop makes can go bad. His life is on the line each time. To me, that makes every good cop a hero. If he dies in the line of duty, he did it while following the "protect and serve" oath.
I believe you about the hubcap incident. It does sound more real the way you explained it now. However, that lazy cop is not who this thread was dedicated to.
My disagreement with you is the lack of respect. The thought that cops are easy to replace by anyone on the street, that's not true. And it is true that Durham is a hero. He did take a job that put him at risk, performed it faithfully, and lost his life while serving us.
I'll offer no farther comments to you on this.
