Fing bunch of cry babies ! since everyone is complaining i would like say im a born and raised within a mile of the range and all you crybabies who come down from up north to "sight in for hunting" lol should stop droping ther rifles so much and sight in wher they hunt . that way if i want to go sight in my rifle i dont have to wait for a bunch of retards who shoot holes in the roof ,sighns , and the wood baracades . I say keep on blogging and bitching but most of all keep your ass up north .

You do not deserve a gun you're a sissy little woman.

Been going for quite a few years now and have noticed a recent trend of high capacity non-hunting firearms at the range (some with 100 round drum magazines). I go to sight in my scope with a bot action rifle and a shotgun. What I get is some kid next to me with a ar-15 blasting off rounds for hours on end. Seen a few people with keltec sub 9mm compact. The range is for sight in and hunters not tactical weapons. I have also noticed groups of these "black rifles" showing up at the range a few dozen at a time. It is unfair that they take up all the positions and hunker down for hours on end. The rules need to be changed to the rules set forth by the state on hunting. No rifles with a mag capacity of 5 rounds or more. It is only a matter of time before the range is shut down due to rapid fire and the use of non hunting firearms. Go to clark brothers if that's what you are looking for. Everyone I have talked to seems to be from the fairfax area and disregard the local hunters trying to sight in their rifles. Yet another good thing in this county has turned south. I hope the game warden in the area shows up on a given weekend and decides to change the rules

My,my--passed an I.Q. test recently? Perhaps you are the idiot firing off a 30-rd clip an hour after the range closes during hunting season? It is a sighting in range--I don't care what you shoot, but sight it in and leave.

Really? Woman? Don't make ignorant statements.
In reference to previous posts, I sighted in my 270 at Clark Bros and was aggravated by the groups of 6 kids sharing 2 firearms (1 rifle and 1 pistol) just there for fun jumping back and forth for hours when there was a long line waiting to shoot. I understand this dilemma however it is for public use. I was searching for another location for sighting in and heard great things about Phelps so I decided to do some research. Same ol' bs no matter where you go. Sounds like we all just need to learn some patience and tolerance for fellow shooters. Happy hunting!

Look it is simple, if you are not there to sight your weapon go away. This is not a recreational shooting range and I am tiered of getting pinged in the head by casings of some ahole with an AK firing continuously. By the way if you see this behavior call the game warden he will take care of it.

Have read the comments over the last few years concerning the sighting-in range at Phelps Wildlife Management Area. One thing that everyone seems to forget is the process the VGIF went through to get approval to open the range. Many area residents opposed the range because of the noise and traffic. The representatives from VGIF assured the local residents that it would only be used for sighting in and not target pactice and therefore the number of shots would be limited.
I live near Phelps but supported the approval of the sighting in range even though I don't use it. I, like many, felt hunters need a place to sight in their rifles to insure clean kills. When people miss use the range it makes it much more difficult for VGIF to do other things to help sportsman in Virginia. People will remember that while the VGIF intentions are good it can not enforce the rules and jerks will ruin it for all. The closures of sections of Phelps in the summer is the result of a few slobs spoiling things for all. I used to go to the handicapped area in the summer before it was closed. There were always broken beer bottles and trash on the shore of the river. If complaints continue I can see the range being closed as well.

I'm going there with my AK tomorrow, If you see me there dkva your gonna have to wait while I blast away my non hunting rifle! What are you a gun control freak? Stop bein a lil b**** and let people shoot what they want, you are NOBODY, nothing, of non importance to the world or any single person. Hunting rifles are f'n LOUD, way louder than .223 or even 7.62 but you don't hear me or anybody else complaining who doesn't shoot hunting rifles do you? NO because they are there to have a good time, not ruin it for others and try to dictate who should and shouldn't be free. Are you a nazi? DEAL WITH IT. See you at the range punk

I thought is was a rifle site in range? "All Rifles Matter". All rifles need to be sited in...don't they? Now staying more than your allotted 1 hour if folks are waiting is a different subject. Don't be a snob...remember "All Rifles Matter". God forbid the SHTF you'll be happy those "black rifle" folks rifles are sighted in.
