Ryals announces bid for sheriff

Tim Ryals of Conway, a senior corporal and Tactical Air Operations pilot with the Arkansas State Police, has formally announced as a Republican candidate for Faulkner County sheriff.

I will not be voting for him. We are trying to rid of the "Good Ole Boy Days", Not bring it back. Also, my understanding one of his campaign supporters is Steve Gafner, Jr. and Steve's Auto Center of Conway and he is a convicted felon.

Why are you so concerned about where the financial supports comes from? What facts do you have to support your statement of this candidate using the "good ole boy" system?? If fact, candidate Ryals hasn't been elected nor has he taken office so how in the world can you say he is using the "good ole boy" system. Obviously you must be someone running for Sheriff or a family member of someone running against Tim Ryals. I know for a fact that another candidate in this race has received financial support from Steve Gafner! Hmmm, bet u didn't know that did you? So now make it known who you are voting for and let's see if I can burst your tiny little bubble.

This does make an interesting point, if a candidate is receiving funds from a convicted felon? I do question his or her moral, it makes one wonder if they even know if he or she is a felon? If they do know about it then I would have questions to ask and most likely would not vote for that party. After looking up the info it does appear to be that way from a popular search engine. Wow

If a felon donates to a campaign party to help raise funds in a legal transaction, how is this bad? Profiling of a legitimate tax payer and a legitimate local business owner doing legitimate business is kind of a ridiculous statement of ignorance. If that is the best attack tactic against the campaign then I think Ryals stands a fair chance of winning.

It sounds to me that this "convicted felon" is trying to everything he can "legally" to get the right guy in there. Tim is above reproach and there is nothing illegal or morally wrong with taking funds from a felon. We all have done something in our past that we are ashamed of even though we may not have been convicted. Its all about what you do going forward that matters. And I would assume that MarySue wont be voting for Andy since she wants to get the "good ole boy days" out. Isn't that how Andy got where he is...

I can tell you this, FCSO does not have a professional standard for hiring. It's all about who you know. Has been that way for years. There are many employees at FCSO that would not pass the hiring process of a larger/more professional Dept. Mr Ryals understands the need for employing qualified men and women that will serve the people of Faulkner Co. Mr Ryals is professional and therefore will expect his department to follow the same standard.

I agree. Tim is a great guy, he has my vote. We need some professionalism back in our Sheriff's Dept. currently I'm embarrassed with our current administration. My alarm went off at my house several months ago and I beat the deputy there by 45 minutes and I drove 15 miles to get there. If someone was there I could have been murdered and buried before the deputy got there.

Not sure who you are but on one forum you instruct users to stick with the same name as if you are on to something and you are posting on all forums dealing with either Mr Ryals or Steve Gafner.
