I'm from Germany and I was raised with all races. Poor black should not live in a stinky neighborhood, that's just wrong, cause I'm black. Times were tough when I was growing up so I had to made do with what I was blessed to have. Poor people , not matter what color their skin, deserve equal oppertunities for fair housing like everyone else. No one deserves to live in a stinky neighborhood, espiecally if they can't offer a better home.

Pensacola is stinky all over. I live in Navy Point and we can't even swim or eat fish from the water at the end of my block. I go downtown and think it's pretty nice. I think that black or white doesn't matter, it's just that we're mostly poor here, and poor people don't always have it so nice, sorry.

Well gang I have the answer, I have lived in Pensacola now for 5 years and I have had enough, I am out of here, Land tax are out of control,Insurance lets not even talk about that we all know what they are doing, jacking up prices every year even if there is no Hcane. So I am moving up North 175 miles South of Chicago, place called Peoria IL, where you can live and they do not keep jacking prices up on everything.

As for blacks living in a poor area of town, Isn't all of Pensacola a poor area of town? I can say that I have never in my life lived in a worse place and I am 60 years old. Oh I am sure that some of the old timmers are going to say its one of the best places to live. Well before you say that, try living outside of Pensacola for awile and you will see there is another life and city council that does care! 30 days and counting and I am out of here!

I live in Pensacola. The only stinky part of town is the area between downtown and 9 mile road, However, it just so happens that the people living their are black. Pine Forest, Cantonment, Gonzalez, and all near those areas are middle to upper class including scenic highway. some of the out lying areas like pace, milton, Baghdad, Century are worse than Pensacola in some areas like small towns in Alabama. i think the reason people dont like pensacola is because you might have to work to make money. However the beaches and tourist areas are the best in Florida.

That is a pretty general statement.
I am white/Native American and don't hate anyone for the color of their skin, as it is the person on the inside that counts.
I live in the Philippines now and am married to a Filipina (4 years now and we have a 2 year old daughter).
Our friends include Filipino, black (Africans, Americans, Germans and other nationalities who are black)and white people from all over the world.
I am not in the minority and feel that you just live in a very poor/ignorant section of the world, as most of my friends back are either black or have black friends.
I don't judge you and do hope you live to see the day that you can find decent people to associate with, rather than the haters you so obviously have met in your time.
If you need a friend to chat with anytime, I am always available and would be glad to talk to you.
Actually, my wife and I are planning on moving to either Pensacola or Destin in March of 2011, so maybe we could meet sometime and talk.

In a Town called Jay Florida where my Mother and I Pick Cotton for the White man in the 50-60. Last week a white man decided to celebrate by having a Bond Fire on his land, two White woman and two back men from a town about 35 miles away called Brewton Alabama showed up. The white man that gave the Bond fire said the Black men were not invited and he took out his gun and shot and killed one of the Black men just because the Black man was not invited. I will try to give you what you didn't know about Jay Florida

As a Freedom of Speech.

JAY Florida has a Bad Name allover the United States.

Is there any Black Homeowners in JAY Florida? If not why not?

Is there any Black School Teachers, Principles, in the Jay High School? If not why not?

Jay High School operates from Federal, State and County Funds from Black and White People that are Tax Payers in Santa Rosa Florida.

Is there a Store owned by a Black person in Jay Florida. If not why not?

Is there a Black Doctor in the Jay Hospital? If not why not?

Jay Florida is a disgrace to what this Country stands for, Freedom, Fairness, Trust and Integrity for all the people.

Jay Florida is a Racist City to include the Law enforcement, Teachers, Town Officials. There is no Diversity. When I was a Child over 60 years ago the resident of Jay Florida did not allow Blacks to own anything in Jay or spend the night in Jay Florida, we could spend the day in 100 + degree hot Sun picking Cotton, but after dark we had to get on the back of the White man Truck and get across the River before dark. Jay Florida have not Changed in sixty years the Residents still hate Black People, WHY?

I am sure Jay Florida has several all white Churches. Why? We are all God Children and Created Equal as long as its not in Jay Florida, at lease that is the way it has been in Jay for the last Sixty Years.

You know, I think every state has it's "Bad areas" when it comes to petty people with small minds.
I saw it in rural, Southern Illinois and Northeast Texas.
Small towns seem to be the hardest to convince that change is good and really think that small, closed minds could be a result of isolation and possibly a bit of inbreeding as well.
You know, I have lived all over the United States (you and I aren't very far apart in age) and I have never heard of Jay.
Maybe it is one of those dirty little secrets one sometimes accidentally hears about.
It is hard to believe that in 2010, nothing has changed past 1950 in some areas.
It sounds almost like an episode of Twilight Zone to me, sort of a time warp that takes one back to the "Good old days" (Not so good old days, really).
If I lived in such an area, I would find some way of getting out, even if it meant abandoning everything I owned, at least I would have my dignity if nothing else.

True enough, but there is a song that says You have to know when to hold 'em, fold 'em and even when to run away.
For me, I don't think I would torture myself trying to live where things are miserable for me if I knew there were places that I could live happily at.
To each his or her own I guess.

Did you happen to realize that nobody wants to MOVE to Jay? It's a tiny town that's all farmland passed down for several generations. However, if some African Americans wanted to move there, they certainly could. Nobody would or could stop them. And they could go to church, own a business, teach in a school, practice medicine at the (tiny) Jay Hospital, or whatever the case may be. 90% of your questions don't matter because no black, white, or any other color person would want to move to the middle of nowhere. That being said, I know many nice people in Jay, some of which are family and hold no ill will to any man or woman on the basis on the color of their skin. The only thing that would turn them off is someone who doesn't think before they speak and has a bad attitude like you.
Of course the killing was an awful thing to happen, and I hope the boy who did it could fry on the electric chair (if it was still running), but he'll probably get the 'nicer' lethal injection now.
You may be interested to know that county leaders along with a representative of the NAACP met about the incident after you wrote a comment.

So true. But, on a lighter note crime is way lower than other places.

Why is that? It is a small community, the people are very friendly and have that southern hospitality. We can also turn it around. Black can be racist with whites also. You don't see white people trying to move in to a black community. I am sorry. I happen to disagree with your comments about Jay.

Jay people might be set in their ways. However it is an awesome little town. Years ago, a black man raped a white woman in the town of Jay. Perhaps this could also be part of why things have not changed in the area. Can you blame them?

There is always two sides to a coin.
