A recent report by the Erie Metropolitan Planning Organization found the RELCO system is "failing" at 155 intersections throughout the county, or 55 percent of the total system.

Why don't you wait until it's a 100 percent?

Erie-based Emergency Traffic Systems and involves replacing the vacuum-tube RELCO receivers at intersections with receivers powered by circuit boards.

Well?

Get busy you will be finished in 155 days.

Who needs it anyway, isn't that why the over paid

union pigs have sirens.

The RELCO system was named for the Emergency Radio Light Co., which developed it.

Both that company and the private firm that used to maintain the system locally are out of business.

What does that tell your stupid asses.

How is it possible that Erie doesn't have money for anything except pay raises, pensions and benefits? "The city needs a new car wash since the last one broke" - quote from ETN. I will bet dollars to donuts that no one ever took care of it or did correct maintenance on it either.$90,000 for a car wash, then add in thousands more for supplies, electricty, employee time, etc - why are we in that business at all? The city could spend $450 per week every week at a car wash for the next 4 years and come out ahead.

If this RELCO system was such a sure fire solution to help save lives why is it that most, and I mean about 99% of U.S. cities do not have this? How many of us in Erie had to wait needlessly for extended red lights when an emergency vehicle was either multiple blocks away and/or no where within sight or sound? It's a nice concept but one that did not work well enough.Other cities obviously knew better.

union pigs are not the only ones that use the system, ems and fire do as well. and when you wait needlessly for extended red lights guess that other persons life does not mean anything to you and thus makes it needless. the system is outdated yes but think of it this why if you are in the back of a rig with what ever medical issue you may have to you want to be bounced all around as the driver dodges traffic or have a clear shot through an intersection, relco makes the light green allowing other traffic to go too and clear a path rather then just stay and a red light and move over a foot.

You mention the words "Union Pigs". Why? RELEVANCE to the subject? YOu are a jealous "right to work" employee. How's that working out for you?
