I agree. The whole "OHL" concept of high school aged players is meeehhhh. Erie needs a Semi pro team if they want to fill that remodeled arena,

The ohl has young talent. Bassin and previously Sertz specialized in self promotion more than talent evaluation.

Maybe they should hire Jerry Sandusky, I hear he is looking for a job and he likes young boys.

Wow! Another totally inapropriate comment from Lou? The subject of your comment shows a juvinile thought pattern at best. Do you feel your stomach tightening up in a knot with with anger now?

So you'd rather watch players that haven't got the talent to make the NHL? I think it's great to have the OHL in Erie. Every year dozens of OHL players are drafted and play in the NHL and some go on to be major stars. Wayne Gretzky for example, played in the OHL. Who wouldn't want to see a player of that caliber play in Erie? There are a bunch of NHL all star players that have set foot on the Tulio Area ice over the past decade. Unfortunately, most of them have played for other teams but that not the OHL's fault.

What will fill the arena is WINNING and you do that by drafting good players. Unfortunately, the Otters drafts have been horrible. If the Otters can draft a future #1 pick in the NHL do you really think people wouldn't want to see him play?

That's just it, a big "IF" the Otters can draft a future #1 pick.
I doubt that the highly overrated Bassin can do that. Erie has a team that seems to exist just for the purpose of filling out the league and being a patsy for the other organizations. And people continue to pay their money and put hope into this mess. There's an old saying about doing that sort of thing isn't there?
Yeah, you'd think since they've drafted so high they'd end of with some good NHL caliber players. I don't think he's drafted an NHL caliber player since Ryan O'Reiley who made the jump from the Otters straight into the NHL. I think O'Reiley was the youngest player ever to play for the Colorado Avalanche.

That's really not my point though. My point was that I'd rather see potential NHL stars instead of less talented players who are stuck playing minor league hockey life. The OHL is so much better than the ECHL or whatever league we had before.

Farm team for NHL teams. Kinda like how Scranton farms up to Pittsburgh.

That would be good but I was thinking Erie isn't a big enough city to support an AHL team. Wilkes-Barre Scranton has a population of 563,936 where as Erie population is roughly half that. If not the OHL, I'd think the only alternative would be an ECHL team for a city our size.

You have posted several references about Jerry Sandusky. That is where you were finding humor in the rape of a little boy. That says so much about you and none of it is good. That's why I say you are an emotionally and intellectually stunted 9th grader.

After really looking here, I see no one person has commented since 2011, sad, the Otters are a great hockey team. Yes, we are London Knights fans, but love the OHL and Junior Hockey here. Ooops, I forgot, it is in the USA.
