Media compliant with White House censorship
Ethel C. Fenig

While spring break students visiting Washington DC are locked out of the sequestered White House, the resident students of the White House, Malia and Sasha Obama, are enjoying their spring break. First they jetted off to the Bahamas for sun and fun and then, for a change in weather, jetted off to Sun Valley, Idaho for some skiing. Certainly their parents purchased carbon offsets to neuter the pollution.
But, unless you got an early glimpse of the Drudge Report or a local Idaho television news report, the Obama sisters' double spring break vacation disappeared from the news.

According to Breitbart's Alexander Marlow the White House requested that the post be removed.(snip)
The White House has confirmed the report was removed on their request. From Kristina Schake, Communications Director to the First Lady:
From the beginning of the administration, the White House has asked news outlets not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest. We have reminded outlets of this request in order to protect the privacy and security of these girls.
Normally I would have been very sympathetic to this request. It is quite understandable that these young ladies, traveling alone without their parents and with just (government paid?) highly armed, highly trained Secret Service agents to protect them, might be in danger and their loving parents wanted to protect them.
But then I remember how the press followed and mocked the twin daughters of President George W. Bush (R) when they were in college; hinting, without any proof, that their normal high spirited youthful behavior indicated excessive drinking.
The following years the media absolutely gloried in degrading vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's (R) children, ridiculing them--and her--about their names and even questioning the maternity of her youngest afflicted with Down's Syndrome, which they cruelly also thought joke worthy. The Palins' oldest daughter, an unwed pregnant teen, was a special target of scorn and bullying, not only from David Letterman but others.
"Protect the security and privacy" of these vulnerable young ones by toning down the vitriol? "Censorship!," the liberal media bellowed as they relentlessly pursued them.
So what has changed? President Barack Obama (D), the media darling, is president.

First Daughters' Spring Break Part II: Sun Valley
Jeannie DeAngelis

Outrageous as it may seem to some, rather than respond appropriately to the criticism and back off from the extravagant vacations, Michelle and Barry chose instead to thumb their noses at America by flying Sasha and Malia from the Atlantis in the Bahamas to Sun Valley, Idaho to top off Easter week with a little skiing.
For those who are shocked, here's the bottom line: Nothing anyone does or says is going to change who these people are. It is now crystal clear that no amount of public disapproval or disparagement will deter them from spending our money to wantonly indulge themselves as often as they please. After all, in their minds, they're worth it.
What is also clearly obvious is that if by chance there's an uptick in criticism of the first family's endless excesses, their response will be an even more defiant display of conspicuous consumption while the liberal media does their part by accusing critics of racism.
In less than a week, spring break has transported two little girls to the sun and surf of the Bahamas and then scooped them up and ferried them to the cold, powdery Idaho snow! Ah, life is good.
Would somebody please refresh my memory? Didn't Obama just blame the cancellation of White House tours on Secret Service furloughs? Then, after making schoolchildren cry, he managed to rustle up a kiddie security detail to stand around in Atlantis in swim trunks and then trail Sasha and Malia down the bunny slope in Sun Valley.
And wasn't it just a few weeks ago that these girls and their mother shut down Aspen, Colorado? How many otherwise-furloughed Secret Service personnel were assigned to that little excursion? Apparently, Mrs. Obama, and to a lesser extent her husband, must fancy themselves full-fledged 'celebrities.' After all, "Sun Valley is known to be a getaway for celebrity." The irony is that it's America that needs to get away from the Obamas.
Nonetheless, thanks to another blank check compliments of the American taxpayer, "The Sun Valley Ski Patrol confirm[ed] the girls were enjoying the wonders of the mountain." To rub the already appalled public's noses in it even more, allegedly while in Sun Valley Sasha and Malia are bunking at Thunder Spring, which boasts being "A premier resort community for the select few."
For the holiday, the Sun Valley blog encourages guests to "Race, Skim and Slide into Easter Weekend... From the slopes...to lawns strewn with brightly colored eggs!" Isn't it peculiar that the daughters of a president who quotes Scripture at prayer breakfasts and memorials, are allowed to observe the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ from a ski lift?
In all seriousness, travelogues and "Rail Jams" aside, these young girls are unknowing casualties of public-servant parents who obviously feel they owe no explanation for their financially frolicsome lifestyle. The 'me first' attitude they exhibit lacks accountability - and shame, for that matter - for the excesses they seem to flaunt before a struggling nation.
Moreover, when it was made public that Sasha and Malia had departed the Caribbean and were spending the second half of spring break in Idaho, just as they did last March when Malia was in Mexico, the White House made sure their Internet scrubber was not furloughed. Every website article that reported the first daughters' location was obliterated from the Web.
To explain that decision, Kristina Schake, Communications Director to the first lady, released the following statement:

From the beginning of the administration, the White House has asked news outlets not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest. We have reminded outlets of this request in order to protect the privacy and security of these girls.
Actually, Ms. Schake, the news here isn't about Sasha and Malia sunning or skiing or where they're doing it, it's about their imprudent parents who ask news outlets to refrain from reporting while they refrain from nothing.
The Obamas are of the persuasion that, without America's permission, they can pilfer as much cash out of the public coffers as they want. Then, when the people whose money they've misused demand an explanation, the Internet gets scrubbed and questions are ignored.
Furthermore, if privacy is the goal, maybe Michelle should think twice before jetting her daughters from Club Crush to River Run in less than seven days. As for their safety and security, not to worry - both girls are plenty safe because the throng of Secret Service agents who would normally be overseeing sizeable groups of schoolchildren touring the White House are spending the week playing nanny.

Sasha and Malia Obama 'Learn What They Live'
By Jeannie DeAngelis

If it's really true that "children learn what they live," then the First Daughters are learning how to be highbrow aristocrats whose extravagances are enjoyed without embarrassment, in full view and at the expense of the suffering. That's right, "the suffering," because notwithstanding the onslaught of Obamaganda, most people in America today, thanks to Sasha and Malia's Dad, are suffering in one way or another.
Meanwhile, when it comes to showering themselves with the perks of the good life, the Obamas exercise zero restraint. In fact, three months into the second term, they're actually outdoing themselves. Not only that, but the elitist lifestyle the first family lives has a vindictive in-your-face, so-what-if-you-don't-like-it edge to it that smacks of spiteful arrogance. Therefore, Sasha and Malia are learning what their liberal parents teach them, and that is to convey the following message to the unwashed masses: "Do as I say and I'll do what I want, and I'll do it with your money."
And for all of Barack's $900K Florida golf weekends, and more importantly, Michelle's alleged $10 million vacations, haute couture, and overpaid personal staff, the tragic victims of their selfishness and insensitive lack of fiscal restraint are Sasha and Malia.
It's common knowledge that in the Obama household, babies are sometimes considered punishment while abortion is a treasured right. Attending church is a twice-a-year photo op and vacations, since the first of the year, average out to be a once-a-month priority. While Dad and Mom talk the talk about sharing, fairness, and self-sacrifice, in their own lives they exhibit none of these qualities. Consequently, the Obama youngsters are learning through observation that concern over appearing selfish, godless, and hypocritical should be dismissed.
Meanwhile, the girls' mother Michelle spends more time than she should proselytizing parents about their children's BMIs, diet, and exercise. Sadly, what Mrs. Obama doesn't seem to recognize is that plump children who possess the character traits she lacks will fare better in life than slender, vegetable-eating youngsters who are indifferent, self-absorbed, and snotty- the very qualities she exhibits, and are at the core of the example she sets for her daughters.
Although they live in a pampered, fairytale environment, the First Daughters are neither too young nor too insulated to be unaware that 48,000,000 Americans are on food stamps and that 12 million are unemployed, 23% of whom are either black or Hispanic. That's why, rather than flaunt the next 17-day,$4-million family jaunt to Hawaii, Obama should request that Air Force One head out to California - not to visit George Clooney and Eva Longoria, but to school his daughters about the harsh effect 9.8% unemployment is having on the Golden State.

Nonetheless, as a casual observer of a seemingly insatiable appetite for all things swanky and sumptuous, one can't help but wonder, do Mr. and Mrs. Obama ever reflect upon what they are teaching their impressionable children about life? In three months they've gone from the balmy isle of Oahu, Hawaii to the bunny slopes of Aspen, Colorado. Sasha and Malia even watched from afar as Dad the Duffer golfed in Florida for a cool million with the philandering Tiger Woods.
Now, in the middle of a fiscal cliff/sequester crisis, without a care in the world the Obama girls have been led to believe that having staffers drag luggage stuffed with designer duds onto Marine One and helicoptering off to Paradise Island for five days is an acceptable choice to make. Moreover, despite an economy on the edge of collapse, the Obama princesses probably can't help but believe that airplanes costing hundreds of thousands of dollars an hour to fly are there mainly to transport them to fun locales.
Last spring, Malia Obama's trip to Mexico allegedly cost taxpayers $115,500.87. This year, the two sisters are at a Caribbean resort being chauffeured around in a motorcade and "escorted to the held elevator," accompanied by "a gaggle of friends." Sans parents, Sasha and Malia are vacationing at the Atlantis, home to the Royal Tower Bridge Suite that goes for $25,000 per night. These tender-aged adolescents are accompanied by Secret Service agents who stand on the sidelines as they dance, giggle, and hang out at Club Crush, which for "teens ages 13 to 17 and tweens ages 9 to 13 vacationing on Paradise Island...[is the] ultimate nightclub."
Meanwhile, the rest of America's children, some of whom had humble spring break plans to ride in the family van to Washington DC, watch with their faces pressed against the wrought iron railing surrounding a closed White House. These schoolchildren are the disappointed victims of a sequester decision Barack Obama made while Sasha and Malia were preparing to party their little hearts out on a trip financed mostly with taxpayer money.
If anything, the life Sasha and Malia are living proves a few things - not about them, but about their parents - none of which are good. Most specifically, the First Couple are either profoundly arrogant, profoundly stupid or, most probably, profoundly indifferent to the effect their behavior may have on their daughters. Unfortunately, if Sasha and Malia Obama are truly learning what they live, then while their lives may be good in the material sense, the life lessons they're learning are not.
