the police are great at solving traffic offenses. pulling people over and writing tickets. i would love to be able to say the same thing about real crimes. this kid who shot the people at the dance club turned himself in to the police he was bored and getting old waiting for them to find him.

It is good to see that people are quick to judge the police. I am sure that these people who make these ignorant comments do not know what goes on in the city. I also hope that they never find out what the police have to deal with on a daily basis. I would rather continue to live my life knowing that they are out there dealing with the scum of the city so that I can continue to live a peacefull life. Thank you Erie Police for your hard work and dedicated service to the citizens of Erie.

Thank u john doe for sticking up for them. People really do not have a clue. Did anyone ever think that cop is risking his life to keep us safe? What if that passenger who got away would have had a gun... Then would people still make ignorant remarks? Walk a mile in anothers shoes is a perfect comment in this instance. You do not know what they do unless you do what they do. So if you choose to say ignorant remarks about them do a ride along for a night and see all the crap they deal with.

I hope the cop gets a chance to beat his ass. Rule number one...do not fight the cops. You wil get payback. I bet the moron the cop arrested, was black...right? They think they can do whatever they damn well please, and by doing what he did, he put innocent people in peril by his antics. I hope they throw the book at the creep.

wrong dumbasss, he was white.

payback? not always, especially when the cop who got hit was a rookie and their dashcam is going, if he did any "payback" rather than "reasonable force" and "justified actions" he'd be in some serious trouble.

the real rule number one is don't fight with cops, because they can charge you with many many offenses, even if you think they're in the wrong, you should do everything as lawfully as possible, like contesting what's going on, without freaking out and making the officer charge you with "resisting arrest" when you didn't evne do a crime in the first place, and in times of struggle they could use their gun and end your life with minimal, moderate, or extreme consequences, either way that stuff happens EVERY YEAR in the 100's of times in this country and it's not worth it.

I agree with you completely. But you see, there are so many morons who have no respect for law and order. Most who post against the cops, have been arrested many times in the past. They are total losers.

Jhen Scutella is a convicted criminal and most likely still on parole. It is likely that is why he put up a fight. It is also likely the reason why he ignored the Police and continued talking to the passenger. One can only speculate why the passenger then got out and ran. Was Jhen giving him directions? Was he in possession of drugs? Very likely, but he got away.

Lucky break for the "bad guys", one gets away and the other gets hit with an assault charge, which is a sight better than a drug charge - legally speaking. This IS a professional criminal we are discussing here, no doubt these things cross his mind daily.

It would be great if that concern extended to the rest of his family. Does he pay rent to his 80 year old grandmother, with whom he lives? Does he give her money for groceries? Does he do chores or help around the house? The answer is NO; he does not. He can't even mow the lawn for her.

Will she sell her house to help him, and end up living in a nursing home? Probably. Will he care? Probably not. He never paid her back for the last round of lawyer costs he racked up, why should he start now?

Oh, but he HAS money... it appears he has lots of it! He post pictures of himself on MySpace and FaceBook holding fans of hundred dollar bills! Where does he get it when he doesn't have a job? Interesting....

The saddest part of all this is who Jhen is hurting through his actions. What will his son think when he is old enough to know that his father is a criminal? How will it affect other family members? Will his mother blame herself? Will his little brother grow up to be just like him or will he be ashamed? I can tell you this much, Jhen Scutella doesn't care.

Need I say more? I think it is quite clear what type of individual we have here. Say hello to another drain on the system. Those hundred dollar fans in his hands might as well be your tax dollars!

I don't think average people understand the duty of the police is to control situations. If they're trying to control and a dick is trying to kick his ass no wonder it's an unfair fight and a cop gets hurt.

If the idea was to kick ass we'd have nothing but 6' 4" Nazi stormtrooper looking police. Frankly I admire that their first try instinct is to chill a dude out. If a cop beats your ass to the dirt a judge will always side with them.

That's why it's good they give you a chance. Even if it's one. Once a cop talks to you sometimes you see the light just knowing he IS trying to help you first.

Good for that officer. He has nothing to be ashamed of.

Yea right clown...as matter of fact your all clowns. James Cousins was the arresting officer. A piece of shit cop who does not give two shits about erie or any one of you people.

Did you know that Jhen Scutella was aquitted of all the charges in this case except a D.U.I.

Did you know that He will be Suing The City Of Erie, The Erie Police Department, and Every News Station that made pre-mature reports and slandered him among his peers and community. The charges were false, I was at the preliminary hearing and the police admitted to telling jhen to exit the vehicle, then telling him to get back into the vehicle, then pulling him out of the vehicle by his throat. They also admitted that before the alleged elbow to the ribs by Jhen he was screaming that he couldnt breathe because the officer was choking him.

no assault charges, no fleeing and eluding, no resisting arrest charges were ever even sent through to his sentencing. Because it was bullshit that the police and media made you believe.

Jhen Scutella was on parole at the time, yes. but he did jail time paid his fines that the courts required. He is still somebodys son, husband and he has a child.

I hope a cop beats your ass wrongly then makes you look like a complete asshole to everyone in your city. GET A CLUE, your heads are so far up your ass you cant see daylight. wake up! you believe everything you see and hear. that makes you weak and ignorant.

You're wrong, he wasn't aquitted he plead guilty and the county was nice enough to drop the higher charges. They do it all the time. He went through all he could to get released and have charges dropped and was told no. So he knew he had no choice but to plead guilty. Look at the docket sheet. Nice try though...

Eyes open really? Do believe the garbage coming out your keyboard. Cousins wasn't the arresting officer. You'd know that if you checked your facts first, Oh wait maybe you work for the Erie Times they like to do that to. If you really want to start something try finding the truth about the incident since i'm sure you only have Scutella's account. From all accounts officers acted accordingly with a resisting suspect and did nothing over the top to him but arrest him.

I agreed with you until you said "I bet the moron the cop arrested, was black...right?"; and then you lost me. Race has nothing to do with it. People either choose to live their lives in a manner that contributes to the good of society, or they don't. The color of their skin has little to do with that choice.
