Fuhrman out as Destination Erie project manager
The regional planning project's five-member steering committee voted 4-1 earlier this week against renewing Fuhrman's contract, said Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper, the steering committee's chairwoman.

it will take a $ 100,000.00 research program... but they will find someone dumber and lazier, Hopefully a mentally challenged , female, minority, with a physical handicap.

Two Garveyites sacked in one week. Very nice. Thank you!
But why is Billy Garvey still on the steering committee? And what is a former a dance major going to do as a consultant for this group?

They need a hot broad with big mellons to draw conventions here.

Fuhrman's a Garvey follower - got broomed at Mercyhurst when they saw this guy's character and non-production and now Garvey was the only one that wanted to retain this guy. Someone please call Chuck Rosenthal to sort out this mess.

Funny, I heard a Sinnott official say that Erie needed a strip club downtown to attract conventions.

That Furman guy is a ballet dancer. No qualifications for the job in the first place. Garvey got him in during Grossman term.
Garvey and Furman can now spend more time together.

Fuhrman may have been the least qualified person ever to hold such a high profile job in recent Erie history. He was and is nothing more than an arrogant, Garvey stooge.
The absolute ONLY reason Fuhrman was picked for the Destination Erie job was due to his loyalty to Garvey and connection to Grossman thru Garvey.
The absolute ONLY reason Fuhrman was picked to run the Deangelo music Center at Mercyhurst was thru his connection with Garvey.
Fuhrman was part of that famous "Bukowski Brigade" up at Mercyhurst College-----(the group of former Garvey players set up in jobs at the college by Garvey).
But then, when Garvey resigned in 2004, he was no longer around campus to protect these weasels the way he was for so many years.
Bukowski left a few years after (after being at the college some 35 years). Some say Gary B got the boot.
Then Fuhrman was fired (yes--fired!) from the Deangelo Center. He tried to finesse what really happened in interviews (BS comments like the center was going in "another direction," etc); however, the fact of the matter is that the guy was thrown out of there. They decided to advertise for his position while making sure the minimum qualifications included certain things Fuhrman did not have. The Garvey stooge's goose was cooked!
Mike was notoriously arrogant at the college and known to be difficult to work with.
So then this clown is out of work and receives a call out of nowhere from Barry Grossman.
Barry then asked Fuhrman to run this huge project that--due to a huge HUD grant---was basically about "directing" Erie's future.
Fuhrman was the best qualified person to do this????
What a joke!!!
But that's Erie for you. Fuhrman supports and protects Garvey and is given this awesome job that he fails horribly at. He blows 800 K of the 1.2 mil that was supposed to go to consultants.
No surprise that Garv voted to keep him. Fuhrman also lent his name to that famous "letter from former players" that Bukowski and the bunch put in the ETN to support Garvey after the story broke about all of Garvey's----"ahem"-- ---"activities in the 1960s thru 1980s.
