John "Jack" Pieri will not escape prison time for encouraging his girlfriend to flee the scene of a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured two women in March 2009 despite his earlier release on a technicality.

The people who drove away were charged. That is justice. However the students, i.e., the "victims", admitted that they felt they drank too much to drive after leaving a bar at 1:30 a.m.. Eyewitnesses testified in court that the students had the red light when they "jogged" into the driver's lane of traffic. Only in Buffalo would the students be treated as heroines for overcoming injuries sustained in an accident that they themselves caused.
