No way! Why does the tax payer have to pay for bonuses? I think the every legislature should be fired for this. I have had enough of county government! The people of this county should get together and remove the legislature! I am sick of corruption and politics. IT'S TIME FOR CHANGE!!!

Another example of the incompetency that reeks at County Hall. Just give away 800k of taxpayer money because no one in County hall is there to protect the interests of the taxpayers.People all around this county are losing their livelyhood and the legislature is throw our money away like drunken sailors.

County Employees are subject to the Taylor Law. More times than not through the years, they have been the odd man out. GM workers get tired of the Company's abuse, they can strike in an effort to get somewhere near what they expect. It is good to see the Legislature doing what is right for a change.

First of all, AFSCE is blue collar, not white collar. It is odd that Collins thinks nothing of hiring one of his people at the top step of pay, but does not want to give the lower working group a 1 percent bonus. The county has money for what he wants. I agree some things need to change with government, but this man runs his private companies like a socialist government. He like to control everything. He is not the president or ceo of Erie County.

When was the last time the blue collar workers got a bonus? I think it has been awhile; so I think they should get one not a $600 bonus but let's say about half that. Because the County really can't afford the $300 but those guys & gals deserve something. If Collins wants to give his new attorney such a salary -- female or not. He can agree to give the little people a bonus. If it was him along with other white collar workers wanting the bonus he wouldn't be objecting to it as fast & hard as he is for the blue collar's workers.

Let's take the $30,000 raise Collins wants to give his political cronie and add it into the pool of money being paid to those who break their backs to mop the floors, plow the streets and take out the garbage.

Collins is demonstrating his hypocritical stances right out of the gate. How unfortunate!

And to think I voted for this guy! I'm ashamed of myself and wish I could have my vote back! Especially after hearing the nonsensical gender bashing!

Kudos to Bettie Jeen Grant! Now that's a woman who is showing me who is truly fighting for us women! THANK YOU!

You missed the point: Collins said the county could not AFFORD the $800K it would cost taxpayers! What is it about the words "can't Afford" you don't understand?Be thankful you have your public sector jobs with your top of the line health benefits & a state pension that is unheard of in the private sector! Just look at the facts: unemployment rates in Erie County jumped to 5.8%in January upfrom 5% in December. This County legislature is just looking to protect their "meal tickets" for a vote. With the number of people fleeing the county, and the loss of jobs in the private sector who is going to be left to pick up the costs of public sector jobs?

I JUST READ WHERE COLLINS WANTS 900K+ MORE,FOR HIS SIX SIGMA BUDDIES--I WOULD HAVE TO WORK MORE THAN 3 YEARS TO GET WHAT COLLIN'S CHIEF SIGMA GETS,TO START-AND I HAVE PROVEN TO BE A GOOD WORKER FOR ALMOST 30 YEARS.
$600 COMES TO $120 PER YEAR OF NO COST OF LIVING RAISE FOR 5 YEARS...AND I(WE) GAVE UP MY HEALTH INSURANCE CARRIER FOR A MORE EXPENSIVE ONE, FOR US, THAT SAVED COUNTY MILLIONS.
AND I PAY TAXES,TOO.

I agree with "No Surprise". If the Legislature keeps up this drunken sailor spending and rewarding the Unions, they will be the only ones left in Erie County to foot their union contracts with all the inclusives perks!.. As for Collins' choice for County Attorney, she knew what the pay was when she was offered the position. I say, take it or leave it----------

Collins has no clue what the working man and woman has to indure. The only time Collins went hungry is when he was late for dinner!

first of all this is not a BONUS it is a raise that equates to .29 an hour if you had no over time 2080 working hours in a year divided by $600.00. the reason they ar calling it a bonus is because that so called raise to settle the 2005 contract is only good for that year, in other words if you were making $10.00 an hour and your boss came to you and said im giving you a .25 cent raise but next year you go back to $10.00 an hour. but wait it gets better for all of you who worked the entire year of 2005 but are not still employed you get nothing. then you have collins saying we cant afford this then he asks the same legislators to raised the salaries of 3 of his people by over a HUNDRED THOUSAND a year. then he tells the contoll board that his great 6 sigma philosophy yes thats all it is a philosphy on how to do things properly will cost the tax payers about a million dollars. why dont you people do your homework you are so flippin gullible you condemn someone for .28 cents an hour and cheer on the one who is robbing you blind. if you think this guy is so great there are plenty of openings leave your job that you think is crappy and come work for this great boss and receive all the great benefits that come with it. wait until they settle the 2006,2007,2008 contracts maybe all together they will get a dollar an hour raise
