I would like to know how to file a formal complaint against one of your Deputies. I'm not sure of his name, but he lives on 31W just past the edmonson county line, just inside Warren County.
I was driving on 31W from my home near Park City toward WKU around 11AM on the first day of classes. Your Deputy observed me taking a drink from a clearly marked Dr Pepper 1 Liter plastic bottle as I passed his home drive-way, which is not even in Edmonson County! It appeared as though the Deputy was leaving for work at the time. He proceeded to follow me the entire way into Bowling Green past the I-65 turn off and into the the Mini-Mart parking lot across from Sonic. As i entered the store to make a purchase i noticed that he had pulled into the parking lot next door and had positioned his vehicle facing mine. As i exited the store, i was met by multiple BGPD officers, who began interrogating me about a liquor bottle that i knew nothing about. The BGPD informed me that your Edmonson County Deputy had observed me drinking from a thin glass liquor bottle while driving past his home. There is a big difference between a 1 liter plastic Dr. Pepper bottle and a thin glass liquor bottle. After my confusion subsided i proceeded to show the officer the Dr. Pepper, but he continued his interrogations anyway, asking if i had thrown it away inside. The Deputy, obviously realizing he had made a mistake, began repeating "better safe than sorry, right?" over and over to me upon producing the "evidence". Even though he was no doubt aware of his misjudgment, your Deputy did not mention his mistake to the BG police officers that were increasingly present. The officers asked me if i would take a breathalyzer which i refused at first, but due to the non-verbal reaction i received, and not wanting to miss my first day of classes, i eventually, reluctantly, agreed. Humiliated in view of the public's eye, i blew into the machine, the Deputy began to crack jokes by saying "whoa you almost blew me over!", which i did not find amusing what-so-ever. The test proved my innocence and after taking my information, the officers finally let me leave.... and YES i was late for my first day of classes. I don't appreciate the harassment nor the non jurisdictional policing attempted by the Deputy. More than anything i would like to make the Edmonson County elected Sheriff aware of the ridiculousness your Deputy portrayed with not only his judgement but his actions. I would hate to think no one in your department even knew that this had happened. I am sure the BGPD had a good laugh about his incompetence at my expense.
