Too bad he is not helpful to the hispanic community. He seems to have forgotten his race. He forgot a long time ago.

I remember him dumping a case on the Border Patrol after he found out the suspect had been deported once. All the guy did was rape his four old daughter so Ray dumped the case and said four year olds don't make good witnesses. If you don't believe this story then contact State Police Officer Estrada. He was the arresting Officer.

This is GREAT news... unless you're a criminal. Going from Judge Brown to Judge Romero is going to be a shock!! Brown practically refused to put people in jail, where Romero as a DA knows the criminals of Eddy County, and now they will have to face him... i expect to see alot more prison sentences!!

Do you know how many people are arrested for the dumbest things and sometimes things they don't even do? Not everyone needs to go jail/prison. Don't be so judgmental. Ray Romero isn't as perfect as you make him sound. Tons of corruption with this guy. He's not the only doing it though...everyone knows that. Karma will get him soon though.. always gets everyone.

1: The police have to be called. 2. The police have to believe you committed an arrestable offense. 3. A District Attorney has to approve the charge. 4. Then you have to be unanimously found guilty of the crime by 12 people.

All the judge does is sentence you!!

If you commit crimes.... expect jail from Mr. Romero. All these criminals that have got chance after chance with just a slap on the wrist, are in for harsh reality!!

Take your 'race whine' South to where your ilk came from, Pal. In these United States there is no respected race under the Law.

It's only since a foreigner was elected to the White House has race against race issues been inflamed, and people been pitted against people. It wasn't this way 50 years ago when I was a whelp and Anglo Saxons were the standard-bearers of good civics.

I'm old, but too old to remember. And certainly not too old to fight.

Mr Romero will make a good judge, as long as he stays honest and does not defer to the old guard in carlsbad. He will have a courthouse named after him someday. Biggest mistake he could make is to play politics. Go Judge Romero.

It's not about race. You people always think the white man is pulling one over on you. We need qualified people as a judge. Not a complete idiot.
God helps us all. Let's see how long before his dumbazz is in the current argus for a screw up

I think it's great that he's judge, in my opinion I as a former criminal believe we all have to face the music one day and for whatever reason or whoever decided I needed to pay, you very well may have saved my life. Never a bad person jus a bad choice. You were and still are a fair person in my eyes Ray.

Yes...Romero seems to be a very strict judge. But he does not know that he is human and not God..Humans make mistakes and need a break if they have not been in trouble before and have been charged with a non violent crime. Instead he makes these people the example. How can you set a cash bond for a non violent crime and let someone who is charged with drug trafficking out on no bond on your own recognize.....really what is so fair about this....wake up Romero.....what goes around comes around...karma. Too bad he is running unopposed or i would be out making sure our Hispanics did not vote for him.

You have no Hispanics to speak of. Judge Romero has been the fairest judge to sit on the bench in a long time. Don't blame the judge for handing you punishment for your "mistake". You broke the law and you got caught. Quit crying and take your punishment like a man.

I've seen this guy in action. Who ever says he thinks he's God, I agree with you. He does! Who ever says he's got a lot of corruption behind him, I agree. Who ever says he demonstrates prejudice, I agree. Who ever says they think he has prejudged a defendant, I agree.
THE WORST, VERY WORST ACT HE HAS COMMITTED IN COURT OR IN LIFE IS TO LET THE BRUTAL RAPIST OF A 4-YEAR-OLD GO FREE DUE TO WHAT HE THINKS IS VALID:
"A 4-YEAR-OLD DOESN'T MAKE A GOOD WITNESS.:
Maybe this good ole small town boy could and should educate himself as to how the big girls and boys in bigger cities adjudicate these atrocities and pick up a few tips.
Based on his juvenile behavior judging this case, unless this little angel has perfect parenting, superior counseling, and constant support from a very loving circle of friends and family so she KNOWS THAT SHE KNOWS SHE IS PURE AS THE DRIVEN SNOW.
SHAME ON YOU!!##%%:"judge" romero, YOU NEED TO ASK THIS LITTLE BABY AND HER FAMILY FOR THEIR FORGIVENESS BECAUSE THE QUALITY OF HER LIFE IS ON THE SOULS OF HER PERPETRATOR AND YOU YOU YOU.
