Proposed coal-fired plant in Early gets state's approval

“We don't have a whole lot down here. ... We're in the other Georgia, because there's two Georgias.”

The state Environmental Protection Division gave the go-ahead this week for a new coal-fired power plant in southwest Georgia. via The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

i have worked at a nuclear power plant and we put safety first. these additional units will provide a lot of jobs for the county and meet the needs of coal burners also.

Isn't the environment in bad enough shape now without a coal burning plant. Why in south Ga? Is there less opposition down there?
