To legalize or not to legalize marijuana?

Aug 19, 2011 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Glenwood Springs Post-Independent

Marijuana can be bad and it generates half the Mexican drug cartels' money - but what to do about it? Legalize it, say Jared Polis and Dr.

Not likely we will legalize it. They have enough problems with drunks driving around. It's not that pot make one so loaded as to crash, but it does have a value in itself for those counties who are willing to turn a blind eye toword a cash crop that could get the small communities out of hock.

Since it works for the pain of MS and for the nausea of cancer patients why not legalize it. It has its medical uses. =^..^=

It won't be legalized because criminal organizations don't want it legalized. They're making $40 million per year. Why should they want it legalized? Politicians who vote, also follow the money. Simple.

Off the top, do not compare alcohol to cannabis. There not even close to the same thing. One kills, the other in fact does not. By the way if you're supposedly representing a respected pharmaceutical company, then please remember to spell things correctly. It's not like there is a spell corrector that is literally two mouse clicks away.

I totally agree with you on this one but don't forget to mention the pharmaceutical company's will also lose much business if this happens. An correction a more suitable number would be at least $1 billion dollars. If it would be legal then the drug cartels would have to find other means of business. Although the harder drugs will still be there.

Kraig...
I too notice these things immediately. It was a typo... and not a spelling error... oh and before you correct anyone... look to your own mistakes as I just caught one with YOU. Take a look at your grammar. See if you can find it in one of your other writings.

I also found another mistake... you used the wrong version of a word. Can you find that too? You have no business correcting anyone for their English.

Just make marijuana legal for it's medical uses. It does have its medical uses for that. Marijuana can help with the pain of MS. So do a lot of the hard narcotics for pain and they are legal. Just because it is a plant they say no.

Phenobarbital is used for seizures... for people and for cats... but it's a drug that can also be dealt on the streets. Should that be all of a sudden made illegal now too?

The hard drugs are just as addictive as Phenobarbital is. Phenobartital is legal because of it's medical value to humans and to cats as a seizure drug. Some pain drugs are legal because of their medical value and some of those are hard drugs. Some of those are addictive too and some are not. Marijuana is not addictive but has just as much medical value as Phenobarbital for seizures or some of the hard addictive pain medications but it is not legalized only because it is a plant.

That was before the lobbyists upped the ante and promised to contribute more to the pols if they ramped up enforcement.

One good thing will happen if pot is never legalized; at least it will keep the cigarette manufacturers from taking over the pot industry. Imagine joints full of nasty additives, and I wouldn't put it past the bastards to add nicotine to their pot to make them physically addictive. I'd put more trust in my hippie connoisseur with his hydroponic bud than with RJ Reynolds any day...

Marijuana is indeed physically addictive, as it mimics brain chemicals and get the endocrine system to alter it production of correct brain chemicals, thus in order for the brain to function in its altered state, continued marijuana use must happen... the body feels deprived of necessary brain chemicals even if they are off kilter.

Marijuana is probably the most insidiously dangerous drug. It is responsible for the stagnation of emotional development in our youth for a whole generation. They smoke the refined junk and think that grapefruits and piss are Art. They foul the political system and are basically responsible for the destruction of valued traditions, respect and honor. Yes, we can argue that Communists use this dope to befuddle and ruin Americans, but ultimately the individuals are responsible for destroying themselves.

Get Flushed...
I have Epilepsy and I also have MS. I am in constant pain from MS every day from it. The pain I feel is as if someone has poured gasoline on the left side of my body and then lit a match! It is now spreading to the right side of my body. I am now on pain management for it.

I am allergic to some drugs used... and other drugs cannot be used because they can cause seizures with me because I am Epileptic.

Since Marijuana does have it's medical uses with pain in MS... and an anti nausea for people with cancer... I think it should be allowed to be used for THIS REASON!

The people that don't want it legalized... are always the people that DON'T GO THROUGH THIS. THEY DON'T WALK IN OUR SHOES EVERYDAY. THEY DON'T GO THROUGH THIS KIND OF PAIN... OR THIS KIND OF NAUSEA!!!

When you go through this pain every single day... then maybe you can say something about how it shouldn't be legalized for people like me who do.

The government does not want to eradicate marijuana.

If they did, all they would have to do is spread hemp seeds which would cross pollinate and destroy the marijuana strain.

Instead the taxpayers pays for the old boys to fly choppers and harvest it for resale.

The first half I believe is correct about needing Marijuana to feel normal and the withdrawal symptoms. The Second half is brainwashing by the US Government to Law Enforcement.
